Accounts of the Event
• The Cry of Rebellion, also known as the "Pugad Lawin" revolution, was a pivotal
moment in Philippine history. It marks the start of the Philippine Revolution
against Spanish colonial rule, which eventually led to the country's independence.

• The night of the revolution Bonifacio asked his men if they were ready to fight to
the last. Despite the objections stating that it was too soon from his brother-in-law,
Teodoro Plata, everyone agreed to fight till the end. Bonifacio then ordered his
men to rip their cedulas, they all did so whilst cheering "Long live the Philippines!
Down with Spain!" The events now known as the "Cry of Pugad Lawin."

• The Pugad Lawin uprising was an important turning point in the fight for
independence of the Philippines. It inspired other Filipinos to join the revolution,
and the Katipunan quickly grew in strength. The revolution spread throughout the
country, and the Filipino people fought for their freedom against Spanish colonial
rule.

• This historic event is still celebrated every year in the Philippines as a national
holiday, known as "Araw ng mga Bayani" or "National Heroes Day."
