Final Verdict - Study Guide

● A WhatsApp group will be created 3 days prior to the event, where each team will
be assigned a case.
● A minimum of two and a maximum of three delegates can take part in this
category.
● This is a compulsory category, thus any delegation that decides to take part in
BizzFest will also have to participate in Final Verdict.

Round 1
Duration: 2 hours

● All teams will be assigned a case study where an allegation will have been made
against a renowned Business and either party will have to defend or prosecute.
● The teams will be given a detailed case study two days prior to the event. Allotments
of “defence” and “prosecution” will be given a day prior to the event.
● Each team will be asked to give an opening statement and closing statement after
rebuttals.
● Teams must submit their opening and closing statements in a written form as well.
● Only two delegates per team can participate in presenting their case.
● Note: This is an elimination round.

Delegates will be evaluated on the following criteria:

1. Case Analysis: Assessing the ability to effectively analyze the scenario, facts, evidence, and
legal arguments relevant to the case.
2. Oral Advocacy: Evaluating the clarity, persuasiveness, and coherence of the arguments
presented during the simulation.

4. Examination and Cross-Examination: the skill of questioning the opposing team,


including effective direct examinations and impactful cross-examinations.

5. Professionalism: Assessing the demonstration of decorum, respect, and adherence to


legal ethics throughout the simulation.

Round 2:

For this round, teams will participate in a mystery round where qualifying teams will
receive information on the spot and will be given some time to prepare before presenting
their arguments.
