    Index Map in Arc GIS

    Step 1 : Download Toposheet from Survey of India


    Step 2 : Convert Pdf to tiff
    (Arc Catalogue – Conversion Tools- From Pdf – Pdf to tiff)

    Step 3 : Geo Referencing


    (Georeference Tool - Add Control Points- Give Coordinates)

    Step 4 : Rectify
    (Geo reference – rectify)

    Step 5 : Feature Class creation


    Arc Catalogue - Select Folder - Create Geodata Base -
    Feature data Set - Feature Class (Line, point, Polygon)

    Step 6 : Digitizing
    Editor Tool bar – Start Editing – Create Features - …
    Save edits – Stop editing

    Step 7 : Labelling
    1.Open Attribute Table – Add field ..
    2.Layer Properties – Label – Label Field

    Step 8 : Layout View


    View – Layout view – Insert –( Insert Legend, North arrow,
    Scale Bar, scale Text and Graticule.)

    Index Map - Title, Name of work, North Arrow, Legend, Scale, Text,
    Graticules
