SAFETY STICK FOR THE FARMERS

ABSTRACT

Agricultural sector is one more resultant sector that help to produce crops
and affordable survivals. There are several small creatures like snakes, red-ants,
lizards, wild animals, etc sometimes seems to be underwater in the crop land.
These all creatures will cause some serious problem to the farmers that are
working in the agricultural field land. In agriculture, most important aspects for the
agricultural farmers with good development in growing of crops is the safety of
the farmers, safety may be from different creatures that roams in the farming
land. The farmer often needs to travel to the agricultural fields for different
operations sometimes in odd hours also. As there will be threat from venomous
creatures and wild animals, there is a need for a safety device for the farmer that
will help protect the farmer from such animals.

As a solution to the mentioned scenario this safety stick is designed. Here

this device helps as a safety features mainly to the farmers when they are
working in the fields from the different creatures. For this the safety stick is built
using components to provide safety to the farmer. A sensitive condenser mic is
present in the safety stick that detects the sounds of the animals and activates
the alarm or the buzzer loudly to drive away the animals. A vibrator is fixed in the
stick that can be controlled through a push button on the stick by the farmer that
drives away any venomous animals.

An emergency button is also present in the stick, when required immediate

attention for the farmer this has to be pressed. When emergency button/key is
pressed, the controller traces the location of the individual through the GPS
module and transmits the information to the authorized mobile in the form of SMS
through the GSM module. The entire control unit is built using arduino uno
ATMEGA 328 controller board and the required power supply is provided through
a rechargeable battery. Thus this safety stick will be of great use to the agricultural
farmers especially in the outdoors in/at the farms/fields.

In addition, shock pulses producing mechanism is also built in the safety

stick to drive away the wild animals when they come very near to the farmer. By
activating the shock pulses producing key, the electrodes on the stick will produce
electrical shock waves and once the animal comes in contact with this will be
driven away. The electrical shock pulses produced are not life threatening because
of low voltage. So there will be no life risk factor.

The rechargeable battery used in the safety stick is charged through the
non-conventional source of energy i.e., solar power. For this a small solar panel
with a charging circuit is built and it can be placed at the farmer’s house. So when
the farmer is at home, the safety stick can be charged and can be taken along with
the farmer while going to the agricultural field.
