from 1800 to (projected) 2100, on graph paper if you have it, if not you can try
drawing it on google sheets/ excel.
✔ Answer the questions below.

1. How many years did it take for the

world’s population to go from:
a) 1 to 2 billion?
b) 6 to 7 billion?
2. Suggest two problems that may be
experienced in the year 2100 due to
population growth.

Extension: Suggest what reasons there

may be for the population growth
slowing down in the future.

globally.

Within your paragraph you must

include:
• Pattern of birth rates
• Pattern of death rates
• Names of continents / regions /
countries
• Descriptive words e.g. high /
low / moderate

Extension: Are there any anomalies

within the data? Any countries you
would expect to be high but are
low / vice-versa?
BUG the question
B - Box the command word

Exam question U - underline the keywords

G - go back over and reread and check marks available

Explain why many poorer parts of the world tend to experience

high rates of natural increase (6 marks)

Guidance:
• What is natural increase?
• Example countries?
• Describe at least two factors
which result in high natural
increase
• Explain the factors – link them
to birth rates / death rates
But populations don’t only change
due to birth/deaths…
