Feasibility Report

Raising of sectional speed to 160 KMPH on existing between Ghaziabad-


Deen Dayal Upadhyay on existing New Delhi-Howrah Route and between Mathura-
Palwal on existing New Delhi-Mumbai Route of North Central Railway in connection
with raising of speed to 160 Kmph/200 Kmph..

1. Project Background

Mission Raftaar is one of the thrust areas for Indian Railways identified by
Hon’ble Minister for Railways in his Budget Speech of Year 2016-17.
Strategic shift in the approach to investment planning and project execution
is the cornerstone of this vision. The outcome of the investments is being
linked to the impact on the generic productivity and efficiency determinant
viz. Average Speed of trains. The commitment underlying the budget
pronouncement states as under:

“...Mission Raftaar which will target doubling average speeds of


freight trains and increasing the average speed of superfast
Mail/Express trains by 25Kmph in the next 5 years...”

1.1 TERMS OF REFERENCE


1.1.1 Ghaziabad- Deen Dayal Upadhyay of Prayagraj Division is 2-line/3-line/4-
line, approx. 700 RKM section on the BG line of High density New Delhi-New
Delhi route and Mathura-Palwal of Agra Division is 4-line, approx. 85 RKM
section on the BG line of High density New Delhi-Mumbai route will be cater
by the 2x25 kV A.C. 50 cycles supply for electric traction through, sub-
stations, switching stations (SP/SSP) and traction overhead equipment
covered in these routes.
1.1.2 There are 15 nos of TSS, 16 nos of SPs and 47 nos of SSPs on these routes.
All the TSS/SP/SSPs should be approachable by road.
1.1.3 Ghaziabad- Deen Dayal Upadhyay section falls in the jurisdiction of
Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur, Fatehpur,
Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur and Chandauli District of Uttar Pradesh.
Mathura-Palwal section falls in the jurisdiction of Palwal, Hodal & Mathura
District of Uttar Pradesh.
1.1.4 The climatic condition of these Districts are extreme and maximum and
minimum temperature during summer and Winter months are 450 C and
40C respectively.

1.2 SCOPE OF WORK


The scope of work includes-

SSPs 42 05 47
1.3 ELECTRICAL

As per draft EPC document the following activities are involved


1.3.1 Suitable type of foundations based on the latest design of RDS0 will be
required.
1.3.2 General Power Supply diagrams and plans to be prepared based on
requirement of Prayagraj & Agra Division of North Central Railway.
1.3.3 All the general works including wiring are furnished at respective place in
the draft EPC document will be required to be carried out by the contractor.
1.3.4 25 KV/230V single phase ATs (5/10/25/50 kVA) will be required at TSS,
SPs, SSPs
etc.
1.3.5 The Electrical details are furnished at respective place in draft agreement to
RFP.

1.4 CIVIL ENGINEERING

The civil Engineering details and requirement furnished at respective place in the
draft EPC document.
