2. 1 fact of tectonic plates which is not from the book.
3. What makes tectonic plates move?
4. What evidence exists for tectonic plates?
5. Conclusion
1. What are tectonic plates?

Tectonic plates are large pieces of the Earth’s crust.

Also they can be a scientific theory that explains how major landforms are
created as a result of Earth’s movements.

Landforms : is a natural feature of

the earth's surface.

Subterranean : existing, occurring, or

done under the earth's surface.
2. 1 fact of tectonic plates which is not from the book.
There are two main types of tectonic plates: oceanic and continental.

Oceanic plates - are plates that lie essentially under the ocean.
Continental plates - are those containing continents.
3. What makes tectonic plates move?
The plate's motion is caused by convection of magma inside the Earth (i.e., heat
transfer due to the movement of heated fluids).

The heat generated by the radioactive process causes the plates to sometimes
face and sometimes move away from each other.

Convection : the process of heat

transfer.

Radioactive : having or producing

powerful and dangerous energy that
comes from the breaking up of
atoms.
4. What evidence exists for tectonic plates?
- Shape of continent (jigsaw appearance).
- Location of mountains and fossils records.
- Earthquakes and volcanoes.
