The best way to solve the traffic and transportation problem is to encourage people to live in cities

rather than suburbs or countryside. Do you agree or disagree?

Some people hold the view that living in cities is the most effective way of dealing with traffic issues.
However, I do not totally agree with the idea because I believe that having a large number of people in a
single area, especially as it happens in countries like Vietnam – my hometown, can result in traffic
congestion and air pollution.

To a certain extent, I agree that promoting city living over suburban living can be beneficial in addressing
traffic issues. This is because in well-developed urban areas, individuals have access to modern modes of
public transportation like buses and subways, which are not as common in suburban areas. This can limit
the use of other forms of transportation like cars or motorcycles, and ultimately lead to a decrease in
traffic congestion.

Notwithstanding, applying this method is not effective in countries that use motorbikes as the main
means of transportation like Vietnam. In Vietnam and some other Southeast Asian countries, most
people from urban to rural areas travel by motorbike. Therefore, if all residents lives in urban areas,
traffic congestion and air pollution will become more serious. This is also a typical situation happening in
Vietnam when people from the countryside go to big cities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to live
and work.

In conclusion, encouraging people to live in cities rather than suburbs may likely help to solve the traffic
and transportation problem, but in my opinion, the method may not achieved when it comes to
countries like Vietnam. I believe there are better ways to deal with this problem in the future.
