Objectives: Student will be able to:
 Importance of CNG
 Working principal of CNG kit

Skill focused on: Assemble / Disassemble of CNG

Resources :
Hand tools, spanner, plier,
Methodology:
Dismantling and cleaning a CNG regulator kit involves several steps and should only be
performed by someone with the necessary knowledge and experience, as working with
compressed natural gas (CNG) can be dangerous if not handled properly. If you're not
familiar with automotive mechanics or CNG systems, it's best to seek assistance from a
qualified professional. However, if you have the expertise, here's a general outline of
the process:
Note: This information is for educational purposes only and should not be considered a
comprehensive guide. Always refer to manufacturer guidelines and follow safety
precautions.
Tools and Equipment You Might Need:
 Wrenches
 Screwdrivers
 Cleaning solvent
 Compressed air
 Safety goggles and gloves
 New gaskets (if required)
Procedure:
1. Safety First: Before you start, make sure you are in a well-ventilated area and
are wearing appropriate safety gear, including safety goggles and gloves. Make
sure there are no open flames or sources of ignition nearby.
2. Shut Off Gas Supply: Turn off the CNG supply to the regulator and any other
relevant valves.
3. Disconnect Components: Disconnect the regulator from the CNG lines and any
other associated components. This might involve using wrenches or other tools
to remove fasteners.
4. Document Connections: Before fully dismantling the regulator, take pictures or
make notes of the connections and hoses. This will help you reassemble
everything correctly.
5. Dismantle the Regulator: Carefully disassemble the regulator by removing
screws, bolts, and any other fasteners. Keep track of the order in which you
remove components.
6. Clean the Components: Use a suitable cleaning solvent to clean the individual
components. You might need to use a brush or compressed air to remove dirt,
debris, and buildup. Avoid using abrasive materials that could damage the
surfaces.
7. Inspect for Damage: While cleaning, inspect each component for any signs of
damage, wear, or corrosion. If you find any damaged parts, they should be
replaced with suitable replacements.
8. Replace Gaskets: If your regulator uses gaskets, it's a good idea to replace
them, even if they look fine. Old gaskets might not provide a proper seal after
reassembly.
9. Reassemble the Regulator: Reassemble the regulator in the reverse order of
disassembly. Use the pictures or notes you took earlier to ensure everything
goes back together correctly.
10. Connect Components: Reconnect the regulator to the CNG lines and other
components, tightening fasteners securely but not excessively.
11. Check for Leaks: After reassembly, carefully check all connections for leaks.
You might apply a leak detection solution to help identify any escaping gas.
12. Test the System: Once you are confident that everything is properly connected
and there are no leaks, you can turn on the CNG supply and test the system.
Monitor the regulator and surrounding area for any irregularities.
Remember that working with CNG involves potentially hazardous situations, so if you're
not confident in your abilities, it's better to seek professional assistance. It's also
important to follow any manufacturer-specific guidelines for your particular CNG
regulator kit.
