Question: What are the waste management present in the Philippines?

1. Everybody, Mag-Segregate
Mission: To protect, restore, and enhance
environmental quality towards good public
health, environmental integrity and economic
viability
Vision: A nation empowered to protect our
finite natural resources, attuned to the
pursuit of sustainable development, for a
clean and healthy environment that enhances
the Filipino Quality of life for present and
future generations.

2. Bayan ko, Linis Ko Program

Concept:

o Nationwide clean-up activities to

promote cleanliness in coastal, inland
waterways, esteros, creeks, public places,
roads and major throughfares

o To expand clean-up activities during

the National Clean Up Month (September) per
Proclamation No. 244, Series of 1993 to all
LGUs in the country.
o To encourage volunteerism and foster
the participation of all sectors to include
government, NGOs/civil society groups, schools, churches and the private
sector.
o To encourage proper waste management by communities or barangays.
o To operationalize an online, real-time Waste Map which provides the needed
information on the location of waste for clean-up.

3. Reduce, Re-ese Recycle Trash to Cash Recycling Market Program

Description:
SM Supermalls encourages shoppers to
reduce waste and earn money at the same
with its Trash to Cash program. “Trash to
Cash” is SM’s open-to-all recycling market
held every first Friday and Saturday of the
month at all SM Supermalls. The program
allows families to come in with trash like
scrap paper and cardboard, empty ink toner
cartridges, plastic bottles and scraps, used
lead batteries from cars, and electronic waste
and take-home cash.

4. Plastic Waste Collection Program

Description:

The Plastic Waste Collection (PWC) Program

is a partnership with NGO Plastic Credit
Exchange and supported by Price water
house Coopers. The program aims to reduce
plastic waste in landfills and oceans through
proper plastic segregation and disposal. The
malls become a venue for customers, tenants
and surrounding offices to participate
actively in the circular economy or the reuse
of plastic material.
5. SM Electronic Waste Collection Program

Description:
SM Supermalls, through the SM Cares
Program on Environment and supported by
SM Cyberzone, is launching its Electronic
Waste Collection (EWC) Program. This
corporate social responsibility and
sustainability initiative encourages mall
shoppers, communities, and individuals
to bring their old gadgets and other e-waste
for proper disposal by accredited hazardous
waste collection partners.

Acceptable electronic waste includes old or broken mobile phones, mobile phone
chargers, power cords, commercial batteries, earphones/earbuds, calculators,
printer ink and toner cartridges, small gadgets, and computer wiring, among
others. E-waste collection will be available in all SM malls nationwide beginning
Feb. 19, 2021. Customers can bring their e-waste every day during mall hours.

SM Cares is the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, with

programs to support communities and promote social inclusion and care for the
environment. Its CSR advocacies include Programs for the Environment, Persons
with Disabilities, Women & Breastfeeding Mothers, Children & Youth, Senior
Citizens, and the creation of bike-friendly SM Malls across the country.

6. May balik sa Plastik Program

“May Balik sa Plastik!”, the first city-specific residual waste collection program by
Nestle Philippines Inc., spearheads one of the many programs by the City
Government focusing on solid waste management. This program aims to decrease
the amount of waste laminates in the Valenzuela landfill/transfer stations by
sorting and collecting waste laminates for co-processing, recycling, or upcycling.
The project also embarks on a school-based and barangay-based collection program,
complemented by activities that will create awareness and behavior change,
information, education and communication on waste management. The project will
also run incentive schemes for public schools and city street sweepers. Apart from
this, the key take to this successful waste management campaign is not just
through the mass collection of plastic waste, but through programs that can change
the culture and mindset of repurposing materials for the benefit of communities.
