Turn on = ​- open
Pass out (Slang) – go to sleep เหนื่ อยจนหลับไป
Hit the hay (idiom) – go to sleep เขา้ นอน
I’m just going to pass out tonight.

I’m going to hit the hay. = I’m gonna hit the sheets. จะเข้านอน

a. to give the same thing to many people แจก

 8. Run into, or bump into
a. to meet unexpectedly เจอโดยบังเอิญ

I ran into my old girlfriend at the mall. It
was super awkward!

 9. Shop around

I think I want to shop around a little before I make a decision.

 10. take off
a. to start flying เครื่ องบินขึ้น

The plane will take off at 7:30.

There’s another meaning for “take off.”
มีอีกควาหมายหนึ่ งของ take off
 b. to leave ออกไป, ไป

I’ve gotta take off. = I’ve gotta get out of here. = I’ve gotta go. = I’ve gotta run.

 c. remove something ถอด

Make sure you take off your shoes before going into the temple.
ให้แน่ใจว่าคุณถอดรองเท้าก่อนเข้าไปในวัด
take off your shoes = take your shoes off

That’s just an interesting fact. นั่นเป็ นข้อเท็จจริ งทีน
In America, a lot of people wear shoes in their houses, whereas in Thailand they usually take
their shoes off before entering.

I think that’s common in many areas in Asia, not just Thailand.

China, Malaysia, Indonesia, other parts of Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea… I think they all take
their shows off before entering also.

 12. take somebody out
a. pay for somebody to go somewhere with you เลี้ยงใครสั กคน, พาใครสั กคนออกเดต

I took her out for Valentine’s Day.

ฉันพาเธอออกเดตในวันวาเลนไทน์

Did you take anybody out?

a.

16. turn (something) down

 a. to deny something or reject something ​ปฏิเสธ

I turned down the job, because I don’t want to move to a different country.

turned the job down = turned down the job = ​ปฏิเสธงาน (​ไปแลว้ )

 17. try (something) on
To try a piece of clothing to see if it fits ลองสวมใสเ่ พื่อดูวา่ มันพอดีรึเปลา่

I’m going to try this shirt on to see if it fits.

ฉันจะลองใสเ่ สือ้ ตัวนี้ ดูว่ามันพอดีรึเปล่า
Fit = พอดี
It’s too tight! มันคับเกินไป, มันรัดเกินไป
This shirt is too tight. I’m glad I tried it on before I bought it.

 18. try (something) out
a. To test something to see if you like it ลองเพื่อดูวา่ ชอบรึ เปลา่

You should try it out before you buy it, in case you don’t like it.

That’s a good one to know.
