Detailed Lesson Plan in English 3

I. Objectives

At the end of 50 minutes, the learners should be able to:


A. distinguish rhyming words through poem;
B. answer questions regarding rhyming words; and
C. identify rhyming words through activities and poem reading.

A. Before reading
1. Motivation
Class do you know the song Six little ducks?
For you to be energized, stand as we sing and dance with the song
“Six little ducks”
Ready?
Yes Ma’am!
(The teacher will initiate the activity)

Did you have fun singing and dancing?


Yes Ma’am!
2. Unlocking of difficulties
Class, before you entered the classroom. I placed 3 different words
under the chair of 3 different pupil. I want you to look under your
chair. If the word was placed under your chair, place it on the
board.

The words are jam, boring and for granted.


What do these words mean? Let’s find out.
I have pictures here for you to describe.

First picture. What do you think does the man do?

He seems to be thinking of something serious.
The man seems to be in a jam. He is in trouble. He might have
encountered a problem.

Second picture. How can you describe the student in the picture?

The discussion might be boring. The discussion of their teacher is The student is sleepy
uninteresting.

What can you see in the third picture?

Do you always see crumpled paper anywhere? Picture of trees and crumpled papers.

From the picture, is it nice to see a very dirty place? Yes ma’am
What then will you do to your trash or garbage? No ma’am.

Going back to the picture. Don’t you know that papers come from Put them in the right place.
trees? We often waste papers by doing unnecessary things. Some
of us does not know the value of one thing until it’s gone. So,
don’t take trees for granted. Do not give less importance of the
trees.

How many lines per group? Do not take sound for granted.

We call those group of lines stanza.


How many stanza does the poem have? Yes Ma’am
Look at the first stanza of the poem. What are the words that have 4 ma’am
the same sound?

3 ma’am
How about in the second stanza, what are the words that have the
same sound?
Sound- around
Sam - jam
How about in the third stanza?

Fear-hear
What can you say about these pair of words? Use- news

What do we call these words that have the same sound? Ear – near
These words that have the same sound are called rhyming words. Wanted- granted

D. Performing the activity They end with similar sound


Now we are going to have a group work. What are things to
remember in having a group work?

Very good. Therefore,


You will be graded by the following:
Content = 4 points
Group discipline = 3 points
Cooperation = 3 points Discipline, cooperation and time management
10 points

I will divide the class into four groups. Each group will be given
an activity to work on. I will play our routine music, A million
dreams which is equivalent to 5 minutes. The music will be your
timer. So do not take sound for granted. You are only given 5
minutes to finish your task. You need to work hand in hand for
you to finish it on time.
