Run in Circles with Ring Topology

By Group 4
RING TOPOLOGY
A ring topology is a network
configuration where device
connections create a closed circular
data path. Each networked device is
connected to two others, like points
that form a circle. Together, devices
in a ring topology are called a ring
network.
HOW DOES RING
TOPOLOGY WORK?

In a ring topology, data is transmitted from one device to

the next in a sequential manner. When you send data from
your device, it travels to the next device in the ring, and
that device passes it along to the next device until it
reaches the intended recipient. Each device in the ring
acts as a repeater, regenerating and retransmitting the
data, ensuring that it continues to flow around the ring.
ADVANTAGES
1. Fast Execution
2. Better Adminstration
3. Straightforward Adaptability
4. Fidelity of Network
5. The one-directional Flow of Data
6. Unique Connectivity
7. Good Troubleshooting freatures
DISADVANTAGES
1. Quite Expensive
2. Slow Activity Rate
3. Unprotected use
4. Need for Hardiness
5. Poor Device Attachment
6. Cable Breakdowns
7. Bandwidth Deficiencies
SUMMARY
Ring topology offers simplicity, efficient data transfer,
reduced network congestion, and cost-effectiveness.
However, it also has limitations such as the potential for
a single point of failure, limited scalability, slower data
transmission with increased devices, and difficulty in
network troubleshooting.
SUMMARY
Before implementing a ring topology, it is crucial to
consider the specific requirements of the network, the
number of devices, and the level of fault tolerance needed.
By carefully weighing the advantages and disadvantages,
network administrators can make informed decisions to
ensure optimal performance and reliability in their
network infrastructure.
