Easy Operation Manual

for DP360 Slide Stainer

1. Station Setting and Reagent Allocation


After logging into the main interface, the system provides 26 stations and had a default reagent
layout (Fig. 1).

Each station has a code, which includes a letter indicating station type and a numerical
symbol of the station.
Station type parameters are as follows:
R: Reagent station W: Water washing station O: Oven station
L: Loading station U: Unloading station T: Transfer station
Users can allocate station reagents according to usage and order of reagents. Each station
has a corresponding button, press the button directly to access the "Station Information"
menu. The station information interface allows for changing reagents and stations.

After the online mode is enabled in the Settings - Parameter Settings,


Station 1 becomes a T1 transit station.
If use online mode, it is necessary to replace the transfer tank of the
transfer station.

1.1 Replace reagent

Click “Replace Reagent” (Fig. 2)


Click the inverted triangle arrow on the right side of the “Replace Reagent”, and the reagent
list option box is displayed. Touch to select the name of replacing reagent (Fig. 3).
If the name of a reagent is not available in the reagent list box, the operator can click the “+”
button to manually add it (Fig. 4).
Click “Save” and the reagent replacement can be completed.

1.2 Change station

If the reagent stations are not sufficient, change the washing station “W5-W8” to the reagent
stations, but remember to keep at least one washing station to ensure that the washing step in
the staining process is operational.

The washing station W5-W8 can be used as station change, the reagent station
is not allowed to change, and the buttons that are not allowed to operate
presents grayed. After the washing station is replaced with a reagent station,
the corresponding washing tank needs to be replaced with a reagent tank.

Click “Change station” (Fig. 5)


Click the inverted triangle arrow on the right side of the “Station Name” column, and the
station option box is displayed. Touch the type of the station to be changed. W6 is the
washing station, R6 is the reagent station, and after the washing station is changed to the
reagent station R6, the corresponding reagent is also selected (Fig. 6).
Click “Save” and the change is completed

2. Program creation and modification

After the reagent station is allocated, click the "Menu" button to enter the menu interface in the
main menu interface. Select the "Program" menu icon to enter the program management Interface.
The interface system provides two programs for user reference (Fig. 7), and the user can create a
new program.

2.1 Creation of Staining Program


Press the button “creation”, and the system automatically creates an unnamed blank program list.

2.1.1 Input program name

Click the button “Program Name”, and the soft


keyboard is displayed to rename the new program. Multiple characters (including Chinese,
English and digits) can be input.

If two programs share the same name, the new program name cannot be
saved. If a program name has been used before, the prompt message “The
program name exists, please rename it” is displayed when the program is
saved.

2.1.2 Select creator

Click the drop-down box on the right side of “Creator” to select the corresponding creator, and
the operator only needs to select the correct creator.
2.1.3 Create date

The creation time is the current time automatically recognized by the system.
2.1.4 Step line of creating program
Click the button “Insert a step”, and the system displays a dialog box for editing steps (Fig. 9).

In order to complete the defining of program steps, the following parameters must be input:
1. The stations and reagents involved in the steps to be executed.
2. Step duration (1 second to 23hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds).
3. Leaching time (0 to 30 seconds).
4. Whether necessary to precisely define as (yes / no).
5. Frequency of vibrating the tank (0 - 30 times).

If the site is selected as O13 (Oven Station), when editing this step, the contents of the bottom
column of the step edit display changes to the oven temperature setting. (Fig. 10)

2.1.5 Stations and reagents related to the allocation step line
Click the station expansion button in the step editing dialog box, and the dialog box of staining
station and reagent selection is displayed (Fig.12). Touch to select a proper station as the current
step allocation station.
Reagent in the corresponding station is automatically added after station allocation (Fig. 11).

Except the water washing station, each station can only be selected once in the
same program, and selected stations are highlighted by gray markers. (Fig. 12).

2.1.6 Definition of step-running staining time

After reagent is selected, the staining time can be selected in the time column. The operator
can click the “+” or “–”symbol for to select time, or by clicking in the number area to display
the soft keyboard and then input the time expressed by minute and second.

2.1.7 Definition of leaching time

Touch the leaching time column to display the soft keyboard, and enter a number to complete
the input (the default setting is 0, and the input value ranges from 0 to 30).

2.1.8 Definition of accurate steps


In the “Whether accurate” column, complete selection by touching to choose yes or no (the
default setting is no).

2.1.9 Definition of tank vibrating frequency


Touch the column of tank vibrating frequency to display the soft keyboard, and enter a number
to complete the input (the default setting is 0, and the input value ranges from 0 to 30).

In the step editing box, the station reagents and time must be selected and set. Other
items can be set by default. When a certain step of the program is set as accurate, the
mechanical arm will give a priority to the handling of this step when running multiple
programs at the same time.

2.1.10 Completion of staining procedure
According to the above, after the step is edited, the step definition is completed. Click "Insert
Next Step" to create a new step line and define all the step parameters again as described
above until all step lines have been added. Then the last step must be added as the unloading
station, and finally click “Save”, and the program is created.

When online mode is turned on, creating an online program requires that set the last step
as a transfer station. When running the online program, the slide holder will finally be
placed in the transfer station and wait for the glass coverslipper to remove the coverslip.

2.2 Viewing and modifying staining program


In the program management interface, touching to select any program in the program list,
click the “View” button (Fig. 16) below to enter the program viewing interface (Fig. 17).
Program step line modifying and editing: Touch any program step line, click the “View”
button below to enter the step editing interface.
The whole operation of the program line: through the "Insert, Delete, Save" button at the
bottom of the interface, the user can modify and edit the program name and the program
step line, and save the program after editing.

When the device is working normally, it is not allowed to modify the reagent station and
the currently running program, and a warning message will pop up.

2.3 Copying staining program
Touch to select the original program to be copied:
Click the "Copy" button to pop up a prompt to confirm whether to copy the confirmation
box, click "Yes" to confirm, the system automatically creates "original program
name_copy" as the named copy program, which is located in the first line of the program
management list; click "No" ", cancel the copy operation.

2.4 Deleting staining program


Touch to select the program to be deleted:
Click the button “Delete”, and the dialog box of “Deleting Staining Program” is displayed.
Click “Yes”, and the deletion is confirmed. Click “No”, and the deletion is canceled.

3. Running program
3.1 Start staining program
First, place the slide holder into the loading station. After the drawer is closed, the loading
station will be scanned to identify the slide holder that has been loaded on the loading station.
Once identified, the loading station icon for the rack is displayed in blue.

Click the button “Programs” on the user interface.


Enter the program selection interface and touch to select a program from the list.
Click the button “Start”, and the system exits from the program selection interface and
executes the staining operation according to the program.

During the running process of the staining program, the setting menu icon will be
grayed out, and the related setting operations are not allowed. After the staining
program, the setting icon will be activated automatically. At this time, the related
operations can be set normally.

3.1.2 Shortcut staining program setting
For commonly using programs, the user can set them as shortcut programs, click the arrow
icon on the right side of the shortcut key to enter the shortcut key setting interface. Select the
corresponding program for the P1-P4 shortcut key, click OK, and the shortcut key is set
successfully (Fig. 23)

After the shortcut key is set, the corresponding program will be displayed on the shortcut key of
the main interface, click the shortcut key to start the corresponding staining program (Fig. 23).

3.1.3 Viewing staining progress

Click the button “Schedule” to enter the current progress interface.


The list on the interface includes information about completed programs and running
programs.
The program that is being executed is displayed in a highlighted and selected form, and
the user can view the name of the executed program, current station, remaining time of
the station, and total residual time of the program.
By clicking “Details”, the user can enter the program step interface, which displays
information about all steps of the running program. Completed program steps are
displayed in gray, and the program steps that are being executed are displayed in
flickering green.

3.1.4 Pause staining program

Staining program can be suspended:
In case of issues that require user intervention during staining, the operation of the
apparatus can be suspended.
Inspect or change reagents.
By pressing the “Pause” button, the operator can pause all the staining programs that are
being executed.

After the button “Pause” is clicked, the mechanical arm completes the program
steps that are being executed.
After the mechanical arm is at the position of suspension, the protective cover can
be re-started for other operations.

Only when the apparatus is in user mode and at least one staining program is
running can the “Pause” button be used. In other status, the button is displayed in
gray and is unavailable.

When the apparatus is in the mode of suspension, the dialog box “Suspending Staining
Program” indicates the status of suspension.
Press the “Withdraw From Pause” to continue the staining.
The system interface cannot perform other operations while the staining is being executed
or in pause mode.

4. Online mode
4.1 Start online mode

Click on the Settings module in the menu, enter the Settings - Parameter Settings module, check
the start online mode to enter the online mode.

After the online mode is enabled, return to the main interface to see that the R1 reagent station has
been converted to a T1 transfer station in the station layout.

In online mode, the R1 reagent station is automatically converted to a T1 transfer


station, and the transfer tank for the transfer station needs to be replaced.
Because of the station transformation, users need to adjust their own programs to
ensure that the program can run.

4.2 Start the staining program in online mode


Starting staining program in online mode is the same as stand-alone mode. However, when

online mode is enabled, online programs and stand-alone programs can be run at the same
time.
Online program, the program completing slide holder is placed at the T1 transfer station to
wait for the glass coverslipper to take the rack. If the glass coverslipper does not take the rack
within the specified time, the slide rack of the transfer station will be put back to the unloading
station and wait for the user to take the rack.
Stand-alone program, after the program is completed, the slide holder is directly put back to
the unloading station, waiting for the user to take the rack.

4.3 Online timeout setting


Click the Setting button on the menu interface to enter the Settings-Parameter Settings

interface. By dragging the slider of the online station timeout, determine the time of the online
station timeout and click the Setting button, or click the input box to enter the time and click
the Settings button.
