Nowadays, most university students will make a part-time job as their side job to earn

some money for their studies. A part-time job is a type of employment in which someone works

for just a few hours which is fewer than the hour of a full-time employee. There are some

benefits for students to make it during their full-time studies.

First, students will gain a lot about time management skills which they need to arrange

proper about their daily schedule to make sure their part-time job will not clash with their class.

From there, students will earn more knowledge for their future because living as a full-time

employee is more compact especially after married. They need to arrange their time by priority

which is more important such as family, job and hobby. With part-time jobs also give students

more energy to do their daily routines because they need to be mobile and have less rest to

make sure everything comes smooth.

Engaging in part-time jobs enables students to have some kind of work experience on

their resumes to start, and the fact that they've been able to hold a job while a college attests to

their level of mature-minded, responsibility, and time management. This is important when it

comes to job hunting after the completion of studies. Employers look for employees who

understand the work environment and work well as part of a team. Having a part-time job

shows that the student is at least somewhat accustomed to the professional world, which will

make the transition that much easier. Research has shown that students that have undertaken

part-time jobs and gained relevant experience have an upper hand when it comes to getting

jobs unlike those that are just fresh from college. On the other hand, working part-time for

recognized organizations increases one chance of landing a better job in the future.

Moreover, when applying for a job the employer wants to know if you possess any

specific skill. That’s where your work experience as a student can be crucial because it

can provide you with the opportunity to acquire and hone skills that will make you more
attractive to employers after graduation. These skills involve the ability to communicate and

build relationships with others. Often called interpersonal skills, they tend to include both

innate personality traits and how you’ve learned to handle certain social situations. Effective

interpersonal skills can help you during the jobs interview process and can have a positive

impact on your career advancement. Some examples of interpersonal skills include active

listening, teamwork, responsibility, dependability, leadership, motivation, flexibility, patience,

and empathy. In a work environment, strong interpersonal skills are an asset that can help you

navigate complexity, change, and day-to-day tasks

Besides, some of the students will get exposed to a new environment for doing part-

time jobs. While any working environment provides an opportunity to make new friends, some

jobs are more social than others jobs. With these part-time jobs, you’ll be having the chance to

meet a lot of new people, and being in a different setting can be a fulfilling experience for the

student because having a part-time job. This will give you an advantage in being a more social

life to meet other people before at working place and this is one of the easiest ways to make

more new friends because some of a part-time job forces you to get out and interact with new

people. With part-time jobs, the students also have a lot of free time during the week of working

hours to build other skills. For example, they can attend martial art classes or music classes

because they might be having multiple entire days off work, so they can pursue hobbies that

require an all-day commitment with more flexibility as a part-time job.
