LISTENING TO THE VOICE OF THE LEARNERS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS

“If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.”-Abraham
Maslow

The success of program/project is a shared responsibility of both the implementer and the
stakeholders or the recipients. One should not focus only to what she/he knows but rather listen to
the ideas and suggestions of the majority. Because it is important to understand the stakeholders
differences in order to satisfy their different needs.

Facilitating and Probing

With a mission that identifies the satisfaction of the learners and the stakeholders, SNHS
actively respond to their needs as their highest priority. The school focuses on the root cause/s of
the problems and conflicts that arises for the past years. As a public institution, Sampaloc NHS is
active in identifying other stakeholders and their needs, which are defined, and differentiated by
their unique investment in and relationship to the institution. The institution places emphasis on
parents, learners, local communities and alumni.

The stakeholders of the school particularly the learners cannot mention what are the root
cause of their sufferings that oftentimes caused them to not pursue their education. They don’t have
the courage to voice out their real situations. Because of that the institution extends a helping hand
in order to address these problems and implemented some programs that might be off big help for
the success of both the implementer and the stakeholders.

Needs and Wants

Upon gathering the voice of our stakeholders we are able to identify their needs and wants
and by thorough examination/assessment they’ve noticed that all their responses are classified as
needs.

The data that have been collected through the gathering tools used are listed in the Priority
Improvement Areas of the School Priority Improvement Plan. The identified needs/problem and
their root causes are listed in the table below:

possible solutions and ways to accomplish the projects pertaining to these needs.

Data Gathering Tools

The needs of the stakeholders were gathered, assessed and monitored through the
participation of all the members of the SPT, active support of the teachers, barangay officials, PTA
and SSG. The team made use of both formal and informal methods. Some of the formal methods
include floating of survey questionnaires, open-ended interviews, home visitations, and Focus Group
Discussions; while the informal methods are made through short conversations with the
acquaintances of the members of the team.

Processing

After the all the activities are done to know the needs of the learners and the stakeholders.
Data from the surveys and interviews are validated by the screening committee created by the team
and the faculty and staff of the school.
