Subjective Reality

INT. DOWNSTAIRS CORRIDOR DAY

A potential employee and tour guide are walking through a corridor

of an office building.

TOUR GUIDE
So, your workspace would be up these stairs.

They turn around a corner and walk through a doorway.

INT. STAIRWELL DAY

There is a stairwell ahead of them.

As the tour guide walks towards the stairs like any normal day. The
potential employee’s eyes dart down to the floor.
The floor is a thick glass panel looking down into a working
mineshaft. The mineshaft has an entanglement of minecart tracks with
minecarts hurtling around on them. A warm hue glows from the wall
lights that line the mineshaft.
The potential employee is frozen in place at the edge of the glass
watching the minecarts whizzing around.

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
(internal monologue)
What?

The tour guide has made it up the first section of stairs. He stops
and turns to look at the potential employee.

TOUR GUIDE
Are you coming?
The potential employee’s fixation on the mineshaft makes him
oblivious to the tour guide.

TOUR GUIDE
Umm. Hello?

The potential employee’s gaze brakes and he suddenly looks up at the

tour guide.

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
Yes. Um. Sorry.

The potential employee tentatively steps onto the glass panel.

Nothing happens. It’s like it’s a normal floor.

TOUR GUIDE
Up this way.

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
(internal monologue)
Yeah, okay, sure.

The potential employee follows the tour guide up the stairs.

INT. WALKWAY DAY

The screen fuzzes and cuts to the two of them walking towards a
walkway.
As they walk down the walkway the tour guide points out the window
to the left.
TOUR GUIDE
(boredly)
To the left you can see our court yard.

As the potential employee turned to look at the court yard, a silo

starts to open revealing a missile that was hidden under the grass.
Once again, the tour guide doesn’t take any notice and carries on
walking.

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
(internal monologue)
What? Am I okay?

The potential employee again stops in place and watches.

He looks over at the tour guide, he is opening the door at the end
of the walkway.

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
(internal monologue)
Am I seeing thing?

Before the tour guide catches the potential employee staring, he

quickly shuffles towards him.
Once again, the screen fuzzes and cuts to the two of them walking
down a hallway.
As they walk down the hallway one of the walls is a floor to ceiling
fish tank.
As they walk past the potential employee looks into the fish tank
and a bunch of fish swim past.
The potential employee huffs out of his nose.

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
(internal monologue)
Yep. I’m losing it.
The tour guide points to the door on the left.

TOUR GUIDE
On the left is one of the meeting rooms.

The potential employee looks through the door. There is a full-

fledged motorway on one of the long tables. There are cars, buses,
and trucks driving along it. As they reach the end of the table they
disappear into thin air.

This time the potential employee doesn’t say anything. Just watches.
After a few seconds he just walks away and huffs.

TOUR GUIDE
And finally, this room here would be yours.

The tour guide goes to open the door.

The camera cuts to a shot of the potential employee’s face revealing
him for the first time.
He has a confused look on his face and his mouth is slightly open.
