VISION, MISSION, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE READING HUB PROJECT

VISION A functional Reading Hub in every Barangay is a reservoir of reading materials envisioned to develop
among pupils and students the love for and habit of reading.

MISSION A Reading Hub that is equipped with adequate and varied quality supplementary reading materials shall
be established in all Barangays in Santol.

GOALS At least one Library Hub shall be established in every Barangays in Santol by 2023.

OBJECTIVES OF THE READING HUB PROJECT

a. Promote a reading culture in Santol.

b. Provide greater access to reading materials to all public-school pupils and students through Reading Hubs.

c. Provide quality and appropriate books to the community.

d. Develop the love for books and habit of reading.

OVERVIEW OF THE WORKSHOP

“Reading Hub: Promoting a Reading Culture in Santol”

The workshop is a gathering of views, opinions, issues, and concerns from the different stakeholders. It would also
serve as a benchmark in fostering strong partnership among stakeholders. As an expected output, a functional
reading hub with a systematize activities to promote a reading culture in Santol.

The participants will be divided into five (5) groups, and the task assigned to each group is to generate two or more
ideas that they will need to write on idea cards.

Throughout each workshop, the participants will also be expected to adhere to the following guidelines:

If in doubt, participants are encouraged to ask questions that they are unable to address in their group because
speakers will be available to share their expertise and knowledge to address their concerns. Each workshop ends
with a presentation of the work produced by the participants.

To educate the participants about the status of education in Santol, input presentations will also be included. The
workshop's inputs and outputs will be recorded so that they can be used as a foundation for future planning and
program implementation.

WORKSHOP 3: REVISITING THE EXISTING VISION OF THE PROJECT

A functional Reading Hub in every Barangay is a reservoir of reading materials envisioned to develop
among pupils and students the love for and habit of reading.

WORKSHOP 4: FORMULATION OF GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

a. Functional Reading Hub in Evey Barangay Activities:

1. Train teachers to develop and implement reading


programs.

b. Reservoir of reading materials Activities:

1. Build relationships with donors / institutions,


NGOs and LGUs to source private and public
(SEF) funds for running reading program
activities.

2. Any person or organization from the government


or from the private sector may signify their
interest to sponsor a Reading Hub. They may
support hub renovation or new construction,
provision of furniture and equipment, additional
books, computers, or they may fund the salaries
of additional personnel in the Hub. The
agreement between the proponents and the
sponsor is covered by a Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA).

c. Develop among pupils and students the love Activities:

WORKSHOP 5: IDENTIFICATION OF OWNERSHIP

Programs, Projects, and Activities identified from the Workshop 4 will be grouped under the following categories:

a. Those for which the LGU/Local School Board is fully responsible.


b. Those for which the SK/LYDO is fully responsible.
c. Those that are fully owned by the Barangay and the community.
d. Those that are fully owned by the DepEd Santol
e. Those that have a potential to be pick up by private/NGOs/NGAs sectors.

WORKSHOP 6: OTHER STEPS TO FOLLOW

After the identification, the group is now ready to do the following:

b. Moving into action.


 Preparation of action plan.

c. Popularizing the activities of the reading hub.


 The Barangay Captain will appoint a Reading Hub Coordinator who will work with DepEd Santol
(neighborhood schools) to supervise the physical expansion of the hub. The Coordinator will also
start regular information sharing and social advocacy campaigns among the hub's stakeholders
and clients to raise public awareness of the hub's services.

d. Managing and sustaining the project.


 Physical and Financial Sustainability – sustainability of the hub is a collaborative endeavor
between and among the stakeholders through a functional networking focused on the following: 
Maintenance of the hub  Human resource development  Generation of additional resources
shall be tapped to intensify the sustainability of the Hub.

e. Monitoring the implementation.


 These will constitute the actual observations and interviews using the prescribe evaluation forms.
The results of the Monitoring and Evaluation including recommendations at all levels shall be
submitted to the Municipal Mayor.

SYNTHESIS OF THE WORKSHOP

The attendees will share their insights and takeaways from the workshop. The facilitator will provide a summary of
the participants' outputs and motivate them to take action.
