Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh came into existence under Punjab Govt’s
Desh Bhagat University Act. The university derives its spirit of foundation from freedom
fighter Sr. Lal Singh Ji; who fought for the independence of India and in 1972 his efforts
of social work & his services in the freedom struggle were recognized by awarding him
with “Tamra Patra” by Govt. of India, hence the name Desh Bhagat was contemplated.
DBU has been established with the mission of pursuing excellence in higher education
as envisioned by Sr. Lal Singh Ji.

The University has been established with the lofty mission of pursuing excellence in
higher education by providing the young students a distinct and unique combination of

 Placement Cell
The objective of placement cell at DBU is to motivate students and arrange various trainings and grooming classes that helps
them to get placed in top national and multinational organizations. The Placement Cell actively explores placement opportunities
by inviting various companies for campus recruitment and industry training programs.

Campus Recruitment
The campus recruitment process consists of a written test, group discussion and personal interview. The written tests are usually
performed to check the technical aptitude and logical reasoning of the participating candidates. The candidates who pass the
written test are then called for group discussion where they are put in groups of 6-12 people and given a topic to speak on for
about 10-15 minutes. During the group discussion the interviewee evaluates the performance of every candidate on parameters
that range from knowledge, speaking skills, language, leadership, team involvement, listening ability to the ones decided by the
interviewing company. Those who clear this stage are then called for a personal interview with the interviewing company that
seeks to know the candidate more in terms of his/her goals and aspirations and if he/she would make the best fit for the
organization.

experienced faculty. They co - relate theory with practical
aspects using their outstanding academic background and
industrial experience. In addition to regular faculty, the
university has a large number of professors emeritus and
visiting professors from various reputed universities and
corporate sectors. We engage industrially oriented - faculty to
give suitable inputs to the students and try to create the
industry -based environment in our university.
Located in a sylvan environment, the campus has approximately 40
lakh sq. ft. covered area in 40+ acres of land at Mandi Gobindgarh. To
sprout a new breed of prudential professionals out of the students, the
campus is enriched and periodically updated with the latest amenities
in vogue with Wi-Fi, Hi-Tech building infrastructure, AC classrooms
having all the modern communication equipments, computer labs and
digital libraries etc. The hostels are also fully Wi-Fi. All the basic
necessities of life like medical Aid, Mini Market and Cafeteria etc. are
available within the campus.

Desh Bhagat University has established an excellent library for benefit of students, faculties and research scholars. Library has a large
collection of books covering various branches of Engineering & Technology, Management, Commerce, Medical and Health & Life Sciences,
Humanities and Social Sciences and other related fields. The fully Air Conditioned and automated Library is highly sophisticated with state-of-
art facilities. It provides online resources as well as digital resources. It is also providing Remote log-in facility to access electronic resources 24
X 7 and ensures high network security. Regular newspapers both regional and national are specifically subscribed to cater the need of all the
readers various facilities like e-library, e-journals and subscription with various international agencies like EBSCO, DELNET, DVL Dentistry &
Oral Science and AIR INFOTRACK (LAW). Apart from Central Library, DBU has six Council Libraries in respective schools to provide better
environment and services to course specific students. Each library has adequate number of work stations to facilitate searching/accessing
OPAC, e-resources, web browsing and for other academic works.

In order to encourage and carry-out research in rich academic
environment, a research & Development cell has been created
with all necessary facilities. The cell supports the education and
Research of the Students of the University though advocacy and
advancement of basic and applied research. The cell is headed
by Dean (research) and maintains an active and healthy
interaction between the university and the industry. Research &
Development cell is created with the particular aim of building
capacity for fundamental and applied research in Sciences,
Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce and Management.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell has been established in the
University to initiate an enthusiasm among the students of Desh
Bhagat University, towards Entrepreneurship , strongly
inculcating entrepreneurial culture among them In this era of
Globalization, Liberalization and Privatization. India calls for
Creating an entrepreneurial culture and attitude among the
students to become embodiment provider rather then
employment seekers. Such a transformation, it is hoped, would
reap immense benefits to the society.

A counseling cell is created in order to offer psychological
services to students experiencing emotional stress, personal
problems or concerns with behavior or relationships.
Through evaluation and consultations, students are assisted
in identifying problem areas or difficulties, resolving their
emotional problems and overcoming academic and social
deficiencies.
