Village of Altona Board Meeting

Thursday, February 1st, 2024

 The board meeting was called to order on Thursday, February 1st, by President Derrick Appell. Board members
present: President: Derrick Appell. Clerk: Kelly Scott. Trustees: Dale Grawe, Jeremy Williams, Keith Holland and
Nick Morris. Absent: Treasurer: Mark Compton. Absent: Trustees: Brian DeVito and Ryan West. Present: Chad
Long-Village Attorney and Jason Chasteen-Village Employee,
 Minutes from January 4th, 2023, was motioned to approve by Dale and 2nd by Nick. All Ayes.
 Payment of bills for February was motioned to approve by Keith, with the exception of paying TBA’s invoice, and
motion was 2nd by Nick. Ayes: Dale, Jeremy, Keith and Nick. Passes: 4-0. Dale motioned to pay TBA’s invoice
and Jeremy 2nd the motion. Ayes: Dale, Jeremy, Nick and Derrick. Abstain: Keith. Passes: 4-0-1
 Financial report was received and if questions, see Mark, since he was absent from the meeting.
 Public Comment:

Old Business
 Code Book Revisions & Passage of Any and All Ordinances:
 Any Property Sales or Purchasing Updates or Actions & Possible Closed Sessions: Inspector was unable to
inspect 206 E Main St. due to weather. Chad will make contact with him again to see if he can get over there
sometime this month.
 C.D. Investment Length/Rates: Tabled until next meeting.

New Business:
 Announcements were read by Derrick:
 Carpet Cleaning & New Vacuum Purchase: Dale motioned to hire Rainbow Carpet to clean carpet at Village Hall,
if they are unable to then Jason will do it. Keith 2nd the motion. Ayes: Dale, Jeremy, Keith and Nick. Passes: 4-0

Committee Reports
 Water/Sewer:
 Water Building: Dale motioned to have Jason purchase retaining blocks, Keith 2nd the motion. Ayes:
Dale, Jeremy, Keith and Nick. Passes: 4-0
 Sludge Study for Lagoon: Jason is working on this.
 Streets/Garbage:
 Various Street Work Projects & Improvement Plan Updates &/or Action:
 Asphalt 100 Block Park Street & South Side 100 E Main St & Re-stripe Downtown: Everything is still
planned as scheduled.
 Parks/Sidewalks:
 Various Park projects updates &/or Purchasing of Equipment: Still looking for a contractor to install.
 Shelter Plans for Johnson-Pyle Park
 Employee Report:
 Adjournment: Keith motioned to adjourn at 7:39 p.m. and Jeremy 2nd the motion. All Ayes. The next scheduled
meeting will be Thursday, March 7th, 2024.
