Nurse Practitioner

I have heard that the demand for Nurse Practitioners is at an all time high and is expected to
increase around 10 percent in the next couple of years. I am currently a Junior at Ripon High
School and in the past few years, my love for the medical field has grown tremendously. I first
heard about this position through a family friend who is also a nurse practitioner and am grateful
that I have this opportunity to apply.

As a Junior in high school, I am on my way to completing the medical pathway at my school. This
pathway is an introductory course to the field of medicine. I first got interested in this job during
freshman year when I became more involved in the medical world. I was given the opportunity to
choose any career and shadow someone who had the job of my choosing. After experiencing
multiple days of shadowing and interviews, my passion for becoming a Nurse Practitioner just
became stronger. This school year I am also taking leadership as an elective. In my opinion,
leadership is a crucial part of being in the medical field. Not only have I learned to be self
disciplined, but I also know how to make the people and the environment around me a safe one. A
safe and conforming environment is crucial in any industry, but especially when it comes to
dealing with kids. Speaking of dealing with kids, I have a little brother who is 6 years old, and over
the course of his life I have been like a second mother to him because my mom works 12 hour shifts
as an ER nurse. This has given me an opportunity to work with children on a daily basis. This
experience ensures that I have what it takes to deal with patients of all age ranges.

Medicine has always intrigued me and it continues to amaze me. I believe my leadership abilities,
along with my introduction into the medical field, has prepared me well for this job. It would be a
great honor to work in this field of medicine. I am looking forward to an interview at your
