Grade Level Reorganization

Update (12/15/23)
Information gathering is nearing
the end of its first phase as we
explore options for grade level
reorganization and possible
movement of our 6th graders to
Golden West. Community, staff
and student surveys were given
through the end of November,
and we had over 4,100 people
complete the surveys! Principals
are currently in the process of
completing student focus
groups, and the responses from
these groups will be included in
our feedback report to the Board
in the new year.
The Board also approved
moving forward with a required
study of the possible
environmental impacts of
reorganization. This study, which
is required by the California
Environmental Quality Act
(CEQA), will be shared with the
Board and community following
its completion. No action on
reorganization can be taken until
this study is completed and it will
be shared, along with data from
the community surveys in an
upcoming Board meeting. We
will continue to keep you
informed of our progress and
alert you to when the CEQA
report and reorganization report
will be addressed by the Board.

Greetings Travis Unified Families,

We thank you for your

patience and
understanding as we navigate
the many challenges our
home-to-school transportation
program has faced this year.
We have had to contend with
staffing and equipment
shortages, new school start
time legislation, and a host of
traffic delays. The safety and
wellbeing of every child is our
top priority, and we strive to
ensure all students arrive to
school on time.

Beginning January 8, we will

be adjusting our morning
pick-up times so our buses
have adequate time to run all
their routes and deliver
students safely and on time for
school. Elementary students
will be picked up from bus
stops five minutes earlier than
current times and middle and
high school students will be
picked up ten minutes earlier
than current times. We have
updated our policies and
procedures and will be
sending out communications
to parents if we anticipate a
bus to be running more than
fifteen minutes late. We have
also added a Transportation
Emergency Line for parents to
call if there is an emergency
that requires immediate
attention.

The new schedule and

emergency phone number is
posted on our website at:
https://www.travisusd.org/do
main/33

Sincerely,
Travis Transportation Team
