6mm aluminum/ 3-4mm brass/stainless steel for 1-core cable, 3mm sheet steel for multi-core cable.

2.10 Check if the size of control wires, CT / PT wires , AC / DC supply wires, its colour code and insulation level are per project spec.

2.11 Check combined certification of the VSDS system i.e. VSD with motor, for application in classified area.
2.12 Check type of converter (6-pulse, 12-pulse or higher) is as per spec/ datasheet.
2.13 Check the speed range of operation of the VSD as per process requirement.
2.14 Check the protocol of serial communication is as per PO spec.
2.15 Check the ripple content at lower frequency is not high enough to cause overheating in DC link reactor when running at low speed.
(for larger size VSD of the order of MW )

3.0 GA DRAWING
3.1 Check overall dimensions, lifting arrangement, panel base frame details are shown
3.2 Check panel facia components are mounted not less than 300mm or not more than 1800mm from FFL.
3.3 Check earthing & bonding arrangement provided for VSD; check special requirement for electronic earth.
3.4 Check whether panels require any rear access, clearances to be maintained from other equipments.
3.5 Check for LV VSD, whether individual VSD module is installed separately in dedicated panel or it is to be installed in the LV
Switchgear.

3.6 Check whether any special output filters are needed and provided for long cable lengths (e.g. > 300m)
3.7 Check whether any special input filters are needed and provided to restrict the harmonics.
3.8 Check whether any special type of power cables are recommended by VSD vendor (e.g. screened cable)
3.9 Check if Bypass arrangement is provided per requirement; check bypass is DOL or soft-starter per spec.

Sr No Check Points Checker
4.0 BILL OF MATERIAL / COMPONENT LIST
4.1 Component specification/rating for all the power and control components are correctly indicated.
4.2 Check component selection for DOL bypass starter (if applicable) complies with the Type-2 co-ordination selection chart of the device
(MCCB/fuse / contactor/ bimetallic relay) manufacturer.

4.3 Check if make of all components are per approved vendor list (if applicable per PO)/ are of reputed make.
4.4 Check the terminal size for controls and aux. supplies are suitable for selected control/ power cable.
4.5 Check and ensure that required hardware such as any Modbus adaptor, special connectors, signal cables etc. necessary for VSD
interface are included in the Vendor's scope.

5.0 SCHEMATIC / WIRING DIAGRAM

5.1 Check schematic wiring wrt no. of pulses of the converter.
5.2 Check interfaces with external connected equipment including DCS / ESD /UCP / ENMS (PMS)/ Electrical SCADA
/ RCU / IRP, motor space heaters etc.

5.3 Check whether VSD module needs any separate control supply for ESD operation or it is derived from the module internally; check
special SIL requirement of ESD relay if supplied by VSD vendor.

5.4 Check individual VSD modules need to be connected in multi-drop or each directly to DCS.
5.5 Check the terminal numbers and ferrule numbers are as per agreed philosophy for the project. Check terminal block location is
suitable for ease of cable termination.

5.6 Check the panel space heater is equipped with thermostat and sub-circuit protection (if applicable )
5.7 Check if the Input/ Output signals are as per the requirement of the control philosophy.
5.8 Check all required motor protection functions are included in the VSD.
5.9 Check motor protection like PTC thermister relay / RTD protection inputs (3-wire if specified) are provided as per spec.
5.10 Check for RCU speedometer if 4-20 mA signal is required, accordingly check if screened cable is required.
5.11 Check UPS power requirement for VSD and aux power requirement including cooling system.
5.12 Check if vendor specifies a pre-trip command to VSD in case of switching from upstream feeder to prevent malfunction of the VSD.
Accordingly provide this input to VSD and take care of the interlocking.

5.13 Check whether any special requirement such as "Pre-charging circuitry" is required in order to reduce the in- rush current during
starting of VSD through transformer.

5.14 Check whether any output contactor is specified to isolate the motor in case of VSD internal fault.
5.15 Check whether the IGBTs/ SCRs in the VSD are protected by fast acting fuses.
5.16 Check in case of VSD with Bypass, there is proper interlock between VSD and Bypass, overload and SC protection in Bypass and safe
removal/ maintenance of VSD when operating in bypass.
