I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of parallelograms and
triangle similarly.

B. Performance Standards The learner is able to investigate, analyze, and solve problems involving
parallelograms and triangle similarly through appropriate and accurate
representation.

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives Proves theorems on the different kinds of parallelogram (Rhombus). (M9GE-IIIc-1)

II. CONTENT CHARACTERISTICS AND THEOREMS RELATED TO A RHOMBUS

LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References

1. Teacher’s Guide pages

2. Learner’s Material pages Learners Activity Sheet
3. Textbook Pages
4. Additional Reference from Learning
Resource
B. Other Learning Resources
Laptop, Flatscreen TV, PowerPoint presentation, Chalk, activity sheets.

III. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities

B. Activity

The teacher will make 2 teams. Each team will have a leader and they will
play “Bato bato pick” who will win will go first. The winner will choose a letter
and answer the question behind it. If the group has wrong answer, the other
group may steal their question. Each correct answer will have 50 points. Then
it time its either he/she will give or keep the box.
Questions:
A. Rhombus opposite angles are not congruent.
Answer: False
B. All four sides of rhombus are congruent.
Answer: True
C. Consecutive angles of a rhombus are complementary.
Answer: False
D. The diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other and are not perpendicular.
Answer: False
E. Each diagonal separates the rhombus into two congruent triangles.
Answer: True
F. What is the sum of interior angles of a rhombus?
Answer: 360o
G. The diagonals of rhombus bisect each other at o degrees.
Answer: 90o
H. All sides of rhombus are equal in length.
Answer: True
I. The rhombus opposite sides are parallel.
Answer: True
J. The rhombus diagonals bisect a pair of opposite angles.
Answer: True

C. Analysis

The teacher then asks the following questions:

1. Do you enjoy our activity?
2. Do you think all of your answers are correct?
3. Based on our activity what do you think our topic for today?

D. Abstraction

The teacher presents and discusses the following important concepts:

What is rhombus?

• A rhombus is a closed two-dimensional plane figure. It is considered a

special parallelogram, and because of its unique properties, it gets an
individual identity as a quadrilateral.
• The term ‘rhombus’ has been derived from the ancient Greek word
‘rhombos', which actually means something that spins.

What are the characteristics of rhombus?

1. All four sides are congruent.
2. Opposite sides are parallel.
3. Opposite angles are congruent.
4. Consecutive angles are supplementary.
5. Diagonals bisect each other and are perpendicular.
6. Each diagonal bisects a pair of opposite angles.
7. Each diagonal separates the rhombus into two congruent triangles.

Theorem3.The diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular

Theorem4. Each diagonal of rhombus bisects opposite angles.

EXAMPLE:
FREN is a rhombus. Find the missing value of the given information.

1. if RN=20, find ND.

2. m angle MDE= x2+ 65. Find x.

Refer to the figure below.

1. If angle D = 90o, what is the angle B=?

Answer: 90o

2. if DB=20, find DS.

Answer: 10

3. If the DB= 30, what is AC?

Answer: 30

Generalization What have you learned from our lesson?

E. Application The class will be grouped into two. Each group will solve a different problem.

Exercise A. Refer the figure below solve each given question:

Group 1 Group 2
 Find line segment ED if the Find line segment AC if the line segment
line segment BD= 30 EC= 25
Answer: 15 Answer: 50
Exercise B. Present / Discuss your answers.

Instructions:
1. Each group will select who will present their work.
2. Student will discuss to their classmates their
answers

IV. EVALUATION

Instructions: You will be given a sheet of paper with activity. Solve and show your
solutions.

Name: Grade&Section:

Show your solutions. Refer to the figure given. Find the following:

1. Since rhombus is a parallelogram, its diagonals bisect each other.

Thus, If BD = 20cm, what is DS? Answer: 10cm

2. If measure of angle DSC = x2 + 54. Find X? Answer: 6 or -6

V. ASSIGNMENT

Solve the given problem below.

 FREN is rhombus. Find the missing value using the given information.

1. If m angle1= 33o, find the measure of the other ordered numbered

angles.

measure of angle 2=?

m angle3=?
m angle4=?
m angle5=?
