Chapter Three

Research method

3.1 Introduction

This chapter show the research design population of the study, sampling size and sample technique,
sources and method of data collection, validity and reliability of instrument and the technique of data
analysis.

3.2 Research Design

In this research, questionnaire will be used to carry out the investigation using qualitative research
design.

3.3 Population of the study

The study population refered to the large groups of people or the study population for this research
which comprised of 105 methods representing beneficiaries from Eco bank staff members of Eco bank.

3.4 Sampling Size

This research involved 60 respondents. The Sample was selected by researcher to be the representative
of the entire population.

This particular sample size was selected because it was easier to manage and it was enough to generate
findings as well as to generalize the findings to a bigger population.

The Sample size was determined using Slovene's formula as expressed below,

n=N/1+Ne²

Where n= sample size

N = Population size

e = sampling probability= 0.5

N = study population= 105 respondents

n = 105/1+105(0.05)²

n = 105/1+0.2625

n = 105/1.2625

n = 83 respondents

3.5 Sources and method of data collection

To every research work, there is always a reliable source from which data are collected. The source of
data use in this research is the primary source of data, it used to collect all necessary information that is
needed for the research through the use of questionaire and it guarantee the authenticity of
information required.

3.6 Validity and reliability of instrument

A test-re- test technique help so much to attain the reliability of the questionaire most of the
respondent who have earlier completed the questionaire were asked to complete it again as part of
standardization of the questionaire to avoid mistake.

3.7 technique of data analysis

The technique of data analysis adopted in this study was that of the use of simple table in the analysis of
data collected, while chi-square was used for testing the hypothesis.

Formula:

X² = Ê(Fo - Fe)²/Fe

Where X²= , calculated value of chi-square

Ê= Summation

Fo= observation frequency

Fe= Expected frequency

Df= Degree of significance (-1)(R-2) or (column-1)(Row-1)
