identical in scope, while l>oth the 500 •nd 1000 hour inspections are extensions of the
annual or l 00 hour inspection. which require a more derailed examination of the ai rpl ane.
and overhaul or rel)l11cement of some major components. Inspections must be accomplished
bV persons authorized by the FAA.
3. Piper Service Bulletins are of special importance and Piper considers compliance manc111tory.
4. Piper Service Letters are product improvements and service hints pertain ing to servicing the
ai'l)lane and should be given careful attention.
5. Overhaul or recondition, (Per latest Haruell Service Letter 61. or per McCauley Service
Bul letin 1378) the recommended flight time between reconditioning for Sensenich fixed-
pitch metal Pfopellers is 1000 hours. provided the propeller has not received prior
damage requiring immediate attenti01'1. Reconditioning accomplishes the removal of
fatigued surface ~al and accumulated small nicks and cuts too numerous to repa ir
ind i v i dually. Contact a Sensen i ch factory approved rep11 i r stat i on .
6. A. Lycoming- Intervals between oil changes can be increased as much as 100% on ang-
inas equipped with full flow cartridge type oil f ilters, provided the element is
replaced each 50 hours of operati01'1 and the ~ified octane fuel is used. -
Should fuel otl'ler than the specified octane rating for the power plant be used,
refer to Lycoming Service Letter No. L185A for additional information and
recommended service procedures..
