Objectives:

● To obtain the coefficient of discharge from experimental data by utilizing venturi

meter and
● Demonstrate the relation of pressure head, velocity head and static head and
compare it with Bernoulli’s Theorem.

● Study the flow through the Venturi meter as a device of measuring the flow rate.

● To define relationship between Reynolds number and the coefficient of discharge

Conclusion and error:

⮚ We obtain the coefficient of discharge from the equation and from the figure, we noticed that:

The average of Cd by equation =1.3980, and from the figure =0.416, there is difference between
two values because there is some error somewhere.

⮚ We Sketch the relation between the Re and Cd we know the relation is an inverse
relationship between them (If Re increase Cd decrease).

⮚ ALL values of Re in throat was larger than 4000 < (17339.42 , 21100.29, 26340.41),its mean
the flow is turbulent

⮚ The application of the principle of conservation of energy to frictionless laminar flow leads to
a very useful relation between pressure and flow speed in a fluid. This relation is called
Bernoulli’s equation.

Errors:

✔ Errors in the apparatus such as (the tube is leaking, valve doesn’t work, or the
ventimeter don’t give true reading).
✔ Measuring errors (human errors).

✔ Error in reading time and temperature.
