PRELIMINARY

1.1 BACKGROUND
Critical Journal Review (CJR) is an activity to review a journal in order to know and
understand what is presented in a journal and very important for education circles especially
for students because by criticizing a journal, students or critics can analyze one journals with
the same theme, can see if the journals need to be improved and journals are good to be used
based on the research conducted by the journal's author, after being able to criticize the
journal, it is expected that students can make a journal because they already know how the
criteria for a good and correct journal to use and already understand how to write or any steps
needed in writing the journal. So that it becomes a valuable input for other creative writing
processes.

CHAPTER II

SUMMARY

The Development of Learning Material for Seminar on English Language Teaching Course
Based on Flipped Learning.

Making a presentation in a seminar is a critical skill nowadays. The fifth semester of the
Curriculum English Educational Study Program includes an English Language Teaching Seminar.
The student's ability to write papers and give presentations is still limited. The goal of this study
is to create teaching materials for students in the English Department for a Flipped Learning-
based Seminar on Language Teaching. Through the use of teaching materials, this research can
increase the knowledge and appearance of disseminating scientificwork, both its research
results and its opinion, to a wider readership.

According to Supriadi (2001: 9), an assessment of teaching materials includes "the quality of the
contents of the book, its suitability with the curriculum, the language used, including its
presentation and readability, graphics, and book safety." The flipped learning model or flipped
classroom has numerous advantages over the traditional learning model. According to Chang,
intentional content refers to the content of the material that students will learn (2016: p.5).
Students in my flipped classrooms use a variety of materials. These could be textbooks, ppt
slides, videos, or a rehearsal book. In addition, the lecturer creates group and individual
assignments for students to use in real-life situations.

This course examines advanced scientific writing issues, both theoretically and practically.
Students are expected to write their own scientific articles that are publishable. The Language
Teaching Seminar is designed to help students understand both the theory and practice of
writing scientific articles.

The research was carried out at Universitas Negeri Medan's English Educational Study Program,
Faculty of Languages and Arts. Data collection instruments, interviews, and questionnaires were
used as data collection techniques. The designed teaching materials are evaluated or validated
by experts at the language teaching seminar.

The Research and Development (R&D) method is being used to conduct research aimed at
developing a seminar on language teaching materials based on Flipped Learning. The study was
divided into three (three) phases, each with its own set of goals and outcomes. This study
produced teaching materials for a language seminar based on flipped learning, as well as
articles published in national indexed journals. The next step is to publish at an international
seminar, the I Unimed Seminars, on November 14th, and to await the outcome of a national
accredited journal.
CHAPTER III

DISCUSSION

3.1 Strenghtness

1. There are some theoretical explanations that supported by the opinions of experts.

2. The language used in this journal is easy to understand and there are also picture examples
in the explanation.
3. This journal is also explained quite succinctly and this journal is very suitable for students
because this journal is not difficult for readers to understand.

3.2 Weakness

In my opinion , I do not find any weakness in this journal , this journal is already very good in my
opinion .

CHAPTER IV

CLOSING

4.1 Conclusion

The goal of this project was to create teaching materials for a seminar on language instruction
based on flipped learning. The study's goal was to create a product of instructional supplies
based on the Flipped Learning Seminar paradigm. on Language Training, and the product has
been standardized by an expert.

According to the findings of the research, the fifth semester English students Educational Study
Program desperately needs teaching supplies for a seminar on Language instruction based on
flipped learning that can improve students' knowledge and understanding ability to conduct
scientific work seminars based on research or opinions from the the author himself The
produced teaching material has been validated to achieve the learning objectives and outcomes
Validation stating that the teaching materials developed are appropriate, pertinent, and meet
the needs of EESP students through the use of (4.32). The instructional material was then
uploaded to E-learning.This research has resulted in flipped learning-based teaching materials
and publishing articles based on the findings of nationally recognized research.

4.2 Suggestion

This journal is a very helpful journal if we want to read and understand it. If the reader wants to
know some things about "The development of learning learning material for seminar on English
language teaching course based on flipped learning" which can influence and increase student
understanding, the reader can make this journal one of the recommendations in making
