National artists of the Philippines
- Highest form of recognition to Filipino
artist for their significant contributions in
arts and letters.
- This award is conferred every three years.
- Established in 1972
- First recipient was Fernando Amorsolo
- 66 awardees were included from several
disciplinal areas. (Architecture, Design, Film,
Visual Arts, Literature, Dance, Music, and
Theater.
