2.1 How to build team to install escalator

In general, the team is made up of 4-5 people to install an escalator. The persons
concerned in the team shall be experienced mechanics and electricians familiar with
escalator products (at least one mechanic and one electrical per escalator). The team
leader is in charge of managing installing personnel on site, and of installing quality,
construction safety and the close coordination among on-site construction, customer
and supervisor parties, and then writing down the record and relative documents as
required, and the working procedure including on-site operation and construction
shall be strictly inspected and supervised by the personnel working for supervision
and inspection team.

2.2 How to submit letter of declaration

According to national and local codes and regulations regarding the installation of the
escalator, after preparing relative data and information, you are kindly requested to
submit the letter of declaration to local authority by which installation qualification
can be issued. The installation cannot be started until it is approved to do so. The user
concerned shall be contacted in advance to work out the best route and time to get the
installation started.

2.3 Getting the following items inspected before installed by construction layout

2.3.1 Checking if there is anything on site that potentially interferes with the
installation of the escalator.

2.3.2 Checking if the dimensions e.g. construction size, floor height, span size
between upper and lower supporting beams have been inspected correctly.

2.3.3 Checking if the upper and lower supporting beams have been equipped with
presetting steel plate as required.

2.3.4 Checking if specification of suspending hook and location of bearing beam both
used for hoisting work have been provided correctly together with the right load
bearing capacity to meet your requirements.

2.3.5 Checking if the measured length, width and depth of the pit in which the
escalator is going to be installed have been in conformance with the relative
requirements.

2.4 Safety rules for operation

2.4.1 Warning sign shall be positioned in the right place on-site to prevent from
entrance before getting the installation started.

2.4.2 The personnel working for the installing team shall be qualified with safety
operation permit approved and issued by relative governmental institution.

2.4.3 The persons concerned working on site shall be strictly required to wear safety
helmet and tool kit, and safety belt if necessary during installing operation.

2.4.4 Operation in hoistway shall be carried out simultaneously at upper and lower
position. As soon as electrical operation is required, there are at least two persons
working together to be on the safe side. Safety spectacles shall be worn precisely
when welding, cutting and drilling works are carried out.

2.4.5 Requirements on fire proofing：

2.4.5.1 The equipment concerned shall be run in normal condition when portable
cutting, welding or gas cutting devices are employed, in order to prevent from fire
risk.

2.4.5.2 The flammable articles shall be kept in safe place and also equipped with
extinguisher where appropriate.

2.4.5.3 Devices to put out a fire shall be provided on site where welding and cutting
operations are carried out in hoistway (shaft).

2.4.5.4 Dangerous gases e.g. oxygen and acetylene shall be managed by exclusive
person, and shall be kept in a ventilated place, and had better be kept apart from high
temperature and direct sunlight.
