Pressure Release System in RJKIP, Kailali
Pressure Release System was developed by
providing perforated uPVC pipe covered by
graded filter in geotextile with 3 by 3m grid
below blinding, i.e., 2m below floor level.
Optimization of Design
Forebay Structural Analysis (Intake of RJKIP)

Reduced the cost about NRs. 6,00,00,000 (FY066/67) & 12,000 m3 RCC works
(about 200 manyear of SDEr)
Forebay Base Slab Optimization from 4m to 2m Thickness by providing pressure release system. Previously, it was designed as 4m
thickness PCC by gravity type for uplift force. In later, it was designed with raft concept and reduced thickness of floor PCC up to
2m RCC. Thus the concrete volume is reduced by about 12,000 cum with saving NRs.6,00,00,000 (FY 066/67).

Based on Gravity Design

Thickness,D=H/(G-1) = 4m
By pressure release 50%,
Thickness,D = 2m
