III. PROCEDURE
A. Reviewing previous lesson
Arrange the steps in making organic fertilizer. Put number 1-10 on
the line before each sentence.
_____1.Gather and prepare all compost materials
_____2.2. Build a shelter to protect the pile from the rain
measuring at least 2 meters by 3 or 4 meters. An alternative to
building a shelter is to cover the pile with plastic materials.
_____3.Dig a compost pit usually at the back of the yard.
_____4.The compost will be ready after three months.
_____5.Provide breathers like bamboo holes in the middle of the
pile.
_____6. Cover the top pile with banana leaves.
_____7.Sprinkle the pile with water to make it moist.
_____8Pile a layer of grass and kitchen leftover about 12-15 cm
thick to cover the area.
_____9.Level the area. Then pile the second layer of animal
manure about 5-8cm. thicken layer over the first layer.
_____10.Make other layers similar to the first two layers until the
pile reaches 11/2 meters.
B.Establishing a purpose for the lesson
Ask: Do people and animals need food to survive?
Do plants need food?
Can they receive too much of a specific kind of food?
What do you think are the best fertilizer and pesticides we
can use in planting trees?
