1. Individual Written Assignment (50%)

Select a brand/product in the Malaysian consumer market for analysis and write an
assignment on the Marketing environment factors affecting their growth. The brand can be
a single product or a product line within the same product category.

Instructions to students

• The written assignment should be between 1250 - 1500 words (excluding Table of
Contents, References and Appendices). A penalty of 5 marks will be imposed on
assignments exceeding the word count limit.
• Assignment is to be typed in font size 12pt, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing and Justify
the text alignment on A4 size papers.
• All pages must be paginated consecutively using Arabic numerals (e.g., 1, 2, 3, etc)
including appendices and printed at the bottom right of the page.
• The written assignment must be submitted in Week 5 of your tutorial session.
• The Malaysian Department of Statistics is a reliable source of data to support your
arguments. You should use the latest data available and several years of data are
recommended to be used to show a trend.

2. Group Written Assignment (50%)

Requirements:
Select a brand/product in the Malaysian consumer market for the positioning mapping analysis
using price and quality as the criteria. Your assignment should include the following components:
• Introduction
• Positioning mapping analysis
• Recommendations
• Conclusion

Instructions to students

• Form into groups of 4 to 5 students in each group.


• The written assignment should be between 2500 - 3000 words (excluding Table of Contents,
Positioning Mapping Analysis Tables, References and Appendices). A penalty of 5 marks
will be imposed on assignments exceeding the word count limit.
• The assignment must be neatly typewritten and submitted according to the assignment format
and layout.
• Assignment is to be typed in font size 12pt, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing. Align text using
Justify on A4 size papers.
• All pages starting from the introduction must be paginated consecutively using Arabic numerals
(e.g., 1, 2, 3, etc) including appendices and printed at the bottom right of the page.
• The written assignment must be submitted in Week 7 of your tutorial session.

Additional Information:

• Use the TARUMT APA Referencing System for both citations and references. Referencing
or citing means acknowledging the source of information and ideas one has used in the
assignments.
• Students are required to submit their original work and avoid any plagiarism. Students are
required to sign a declaration that the work submitted is their work and that they have not in
any way knowingly allowed another student to copy it. It will be assumed that all submitted
work is that of the students’ own work.
• Students are also required to submit their work to Turnitin. The plagiarism percentage for your
written work should not exceed 24%. Revise or rewrite your work to ensure your group meets
this requirement. If the Turnitin report is not submitted as required or the percentage exceeds
24%, the written work will be rejected.
• Penalty for late submission:
- Late 1 to 3 days after deadline of submission: minus 10 marks;
- Late 4 to7 days after deadline of submission: minus 20 marks;
- Late more than 7 days after deadline of submission: 0 mark.
• The feedback will be released during Week 14.
