COURSE OBJECTIVES
SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
Students are expected to attend and actively participate in all classes. Our class time is Friday at
8:30 am – 11:20 am and these live sessions are compulsory. Come prepared with a print-out or
soft copy of the Blackboard chapter notes at the start of class. While in class, please turn off your
cell phone. NO recording or photography in class. Apart from teaching content, these sessions
will enable the instructor to provide assignment overviews, explain concepts and work out
problems actively with students.
Students generally choose to be in college classes, so disruptive behaviour is rare but
problematic for those who want to learn if it occurs. It will be dealt with as per the Douglas
College Student Conduct Policy.
Students who miss a class are responsible for material covered in the missed class. Office hours
are intended to assist students who have attended class and who wish additional help, not for the
transmission of missed class content.
EVALUATION
Participation will be based upon attendance and contribution to class problem solving.
Note: Students must achieve a grade of at least 50% on the combined examination components
to pass the course. The final grade will be converted to a letter grade (see attached chart).
