    1. When forming comparatives and superlatives of adjectives with one syllable and a vowel between two consonants, duplicate the final consonant and add -er/-est. Exceptions include lower/lowest and farther/farthest. 2. For one or two syllable adjectives, simply add -er/-est. 3. For adjectives with three or more syllables, use more/most or -er/-est. 4.
