• It is used to talk about real situations that
may happen in the future.
Write on the board:
If + present simple, ... will/won’t + infinitive (aka. future
simple)
• The order of the “if” clause and main
clause can be switched.
• Note: When the main clause comes before
the “if” clause there is no comma.
Examples:

If I meet her, I will tell her.


I will tell her if I meet her.

Ask Ss to volunteer to rewrite the following sentence with


the main clause first.

If you study hard, you will pass the exam.


You will pass the exam if you study hard.

If I wake up early, I will go for a run.


I will go for a run if I wake up early.
