Waste management is the collection, transportation, processing, recycling of waste materials. This sentence is usually in the waste material generated from activities, and is usually managed to reduce human health, the environment, or aesthetics. Waste management is also carried out to find natural resources. Waste management can involve solid, liquid, gaseous, or radioactive substances with specific methods and skills for each type of substance. Waste management practices differ between developed and developing countries, also differ between urban areas and rural areas and between residential areas and industrial areas. Management of non-hazardous waste from residential and institutional areas in metropolitan areas is usually the responsibility of local governments, while waste from commercial and industrial areas is usually handled by waste processing companies. Waste management methods vary depending on many things, including the type of waste substance, the land used for processing, and the availability of land. Disposal of waste in land landfills including burying it to dispose of garbage, this method is the most popular method in the world. This backfill is usually carried out in unused land, ex-mining pits, or deep pits. A properly designed and managed onshore landfill will be a hygienic and inexpensive landfill. Meanwhile, land landfills that are not designed and managed properly will cause various environmental problems, including wind that smells of garbage, attracts the attention of pests, and waste air preparation. Another effect of garbage is methane and carbon dioxide which are also very dangerous. Design characteristics of modern onshore landfills include the collection of waste water using clay or plastic coatings. Garbage is usually compacted to reduce volume and increase stability, and covered to prevent attracting pests (usually rats). Many landfills have a gas extraction system installed to pick up the gas that occurs. The collected gas will exit the landfill and be burned in the burner tower or burned in a gas-fired engine to generate electricity. The process of sorting waste that still has material value for reuse is called recycling. There are several ways of recycling, the first is to take recycled materials to retrieve energy from materials that can be burned to generate electricity. Physical reprocessing is the most popular activity method of recycling, namely collecting and reusing discarded waste, for example used bottles that are collected for reuse. The collection can be done from waste that has been separated from the beginning (trash box/special garbage vehicle), or from mixed waste. Garbage that is usually collected is aluminum drinking cans, steel food/beverage cans, HDPE and PET bottles, glass bottles, paperboard, newspapers, magazines, and cardboard. Other types of plastic such as (PVC, LDPE, PP, and PS) can also be recycled. Recycling of complex products such as computers or cars is more difficult, because the parts have to be broken down and influenced by the type of material. Biological processing in the form of organic waste, such as plant residues, food waste, or paper, can be processed using a biological process into compost, otherwise known as composting. The result is compost that can be used as fertilizer and methane gas that can be used to generate electricity. An example of waste management using composting techniques is the Green Bin Program in Toronto, Canada, where organic household waste, such as kitchen waste and plant cuttings is collected in special bag for composting. Energy recovery with the energy content contained in the waste can be taken directly by using fuel, or indirectly by processing it into other types of fuel. Recycling through heat treatment varies from using it as a cooking or heating fuel, to using it to heat boilers to generate steam and electricity from turbine generators. Pyrolysis and gasification are two interrelated forms of heat treatment, when the waste is visited at high temperature under anaerobic conditions. This process is usually carried out in a closed container at high pressure. Pyrolysis of solid waste converts waste into solid, gas and liquid products. Liquid and gaseous products can be burned to produce energy or refined into other products. State- of-the-art plasma arc gasification and gasification is used to convert organic materials directly into synthetic gas (a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen). This gas is then burned to produce electricity and steam. The problem of waste is something that really needs serious attention from various parties and local residents because for now, waste is still a problem that has failed in terms of handling. In fact, if viewed from the impact that will definitely occur in the community, if waste management is not handled properly it will have an impact on decreasing the quality of life, the beauty of the environment, the potential for flooding will be greater because it does not rule out the possibility that the waste in the area will block the flow of water so that natural disasters such as floods occur. and the declining quality of health of the people living around the waste pollution areas. If this continues in the long term, it can affect the flow of regional investors, the marketability and attractiveness of the area will decrease drastically. In fact, according to health experts, waste pollution has a negative impact on health. This results in various kinds of diseases that can be caused in the waste pollution area such as indexed digestive tract, typhus, dysentery, etc. The disease-carrying factors are flies and the development of mosquitoes that infect humans due to the large amount of waste. Waste management must be carried out properly because if it is not managed properly, it will cause disease, damage the landscape, and other negative impacts. This is in accordance with what I said. According to me, waste is a solid material that causes damage to the aesthetic value of the environment, carriers of disease, pollution, and other negative impacts. Recycling organic and inorganic waste is a solution that can be used to manage existing waste. The waste can be recycled into fertilizers, handicrafts, to power plants. Therefore, managing waste by recycling must be done optimally. This is done so that the waste does not have a bad impact, both for humans and the environment.
