CONTENT STANDARD:
The learners gain expertise on the elements and parts of a flowchart including
the symbols used in flowcharting.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners apply and construct flowcharts in computer system and
business applications.

ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING:
1. Through the Binary code decimal, an individual can be able to Identify the parts
of flowcharts, Identify the symbols of flowcharts, Create the flowcharting in
organization, Appreciate the advantages and uses of flowcharts
ESSENTIAL QUESTION:
How to make a good structures of flowcharting? and what are the types of levels
in flowchart?

LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
The learners should be able to:
1. Identify the elements and parts of a flowchart and the symbols used in
flowcharting.
2. Construct the apply flowcharting in computer systems and business applications.
3. Acknowledge the benefits and advantages of flowcharting.

FIRST MEETING (July 15, 2019)

Learning Targets:
1. recall the conversation of the Operation in Number System.

II. LESSON PROPER (40 minutes)


Activity: Ask the students some questions on the operations on number system.
They should be able to explain the differences between the operations used in binary,
octal and hexadecimal number systems.
Also call some students to perform the operations in each number system and
after showing the solutions on the board, they should be able to explain how they
arrived at the answer.
 Checking of homework which was assigned during the previous meeting.

SECOND to FIFTH MEETING (July 16 - 19, 2019)

Learning Targets:
1. share thoughts about the Flowchart;
2. appreciate the flowchart structures;
3. familiarize the levels of flowchart;

The students will sum up the previous topics discussed.

II. LESSON PROPER


A. Explore (20 minutes)
1. Present the essential question.
2. Present the Lesson Objectives.
3. Motivation
The students should form a groups of not more than five members.
Show the students examples of flowcharts from several topics.
Using only one topic, each group has to make its own or construct
a flowchart.

B. Firm-Up (80 minutes)

 Discuss with the students the elements of a flowchart and the benefits of
flowcharting.
 Illustrate the basic symbols used in flowcharting, parts of a flowchart, and its
structures.
 Explain the guidelines in flowcharting and the key to successful flowcharting.
 Demonstrate in class how to construct a good flowchart
 Differentiate the levels of flowcharting and identify the advantages of using
flowcharts along with its limitations.

C. Deepen (30 minutes)


 Ask the students to accomplish item number 1 of Written Exercise 1.4 found in
the book of Exploring ICT Computer System Servicing 2, page 40

D. Transfer (50 minutes)


 Let the students compare the levels of flowcharting. They should make a short
list of their observations. They should identify which of the three levels is the
easiest or simplest in structure and which is also the most complex.

E. Summary of the Lesson (10 minutes)


The students will be asked to share thought about the Flowchart.

F. Assignment/Agreement:
1. Let the students answer items number 2 and 3 of Written Exercise 1.4
found in the book
2. Instruct the students to make a flowchart on number system at macro
level
