The Notebook

Directed by Nick Cassavetes

The Notebook is a film directed by Nick Cassavetes about two lovers Allie Nelson (Rachel
McAdams) and Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling). It is an impossible love because she comes
from a wealthy family and he is a man who works with iron.
The action takes place in Seabrook, North Carolina. They are crazy in love because they
dance in the middle of the road, laugh a lot, and have a lot of fun together. They also have a
rocky relationship with many arguments and make-ups. As if this wasn’t enough her parents
disapprove of this relationship and they force her to move from Seabrook. That is the moment
when she tells Noah that she wishes to have a house white, on a river with blue shutters, and
a balcony where she can paint because she loved to paint. They broke up and fight, but she
didn’t want to leave she wanted to fight for her relationship, but he understood that she can’t
have a future next to him and let her go. He tried to send love letters but her mother did not
give her any of them. Then she thought that he forgot her. She marries another man even if
she can’t get Noah out of her mind. On the day she tests the wedding dress she read the
newspaper and on the first page she sees Noah in front of the house, in all this time he didn’t
forget about her, he made the house of her dreams hoping that she will come, she did and she
canceled the wedding and married Noah. In old age she finds that she has Alzheimer's and
not to forget him, she writes a book about Noah and their love story. He moves with her in
the nursing home and he reads to her every day to help her to remember. They die on the
same night, together, and embrace.
This movie was very emotional and although follows some cliche material it doesn’t feel
like something I’ve seen before. It is a beautifully told story and I love it. The only thing I
didn’t like was the movie length, the action could be more restricted because at some point
becomes boring.
The notebook is dedicated to all those who no longer believe in true love and not only. I
highly recommend this film with all confidence. I’m sure that it will make you feel like tears.
