Name of the Practical: Group Discussion

Introduction:

Group discussion is an oral exchange of information, views, issues, problems


and opinions about a topic or situation among members of a group who share
certain common subjects. It is a systematic and purposeful interactive process
which can judge the candidate, his ability of communication, personality,
knowledge, convincing power and ability to manage organization.

Importance of GD:
 It is a crucial part of the recruitment process
 To exchange information and explore newer ideas
 To clarify one’s knowledge and to expand one’s horizon
 To enhance the listening capacity of an individual
 To gather the perception of other speakers
 To change one’s perception and idea about a particular situation
 To enhance one’s confidence with respect to communication
 To test one’s knowledge and depth of understanding about a
particular topic

Group Discussion involves understanding, listening, sharing ideas,


experiences, accepting others point of view and criticism. The group
members should ensure that the group discussion has a clear goal and is
heading in the same direction. Group discussion increases motivation and
productivity.
