Activities
Upon analyzing the Instructional Planning Cycle class, what did you observe?

The process is adapted from the Understanding by Design Framework by

Wiggin and McTighe (20005), employing the “backwards” design framework.
The process enumerates the steps necessary in the planning of classroom
instructions.

1. Learning Objectives: At this stage, the teacher is compelled to ask, "What

should I teach my learners?" These can be the skills, knowledge, or values
found in the curriculum document. These can also be big concepts or ideas
that need to be learned or mastered by the learners. It is here that the teacher
decides the content of the lesson.

2.Assessment Strategies: After the teacher decides on the objectives, he/she

now needs to identify how can the learners demonstrate their understanding
and/or achievement of the learning objectives. This is in the form of
assessment strategies the teacher needs to use for the lesson.

3.Instructional Activities: At this stage, the teacher now begins to think

about how to teach his/her learners. Here, the teacher will now plan for the
teaching strategies and learning activities that will be used in the classroom.
With the objectives set and the assessment strategies in place, the teacher
would now need to think about the learning experiences, information, and
resources the learners need to achieve the goals of the lesson.

4.Reflection: After the implementation of the instructional plan, the teacher

then reflects about his/her teaching. At this stage, the teacher reviews what has
happened at the implementation of the plan.

This instructional planning cycle is a systematic process that educators use to

design, implement, and evaluate instruction. It is a cyclical process, meaning
that it is ongoing and iterative. Educators continuously reflect on their
teaching and make adjustments as needed.
D. Abstraction These four elements are interrelated and essential for effective instructional
planning. Learning objectives should be specific, measurable, achievable,
relevant, and time-bound. Assessment strategies should be aligned with the
learning objectives and should provide educators with information about
student learning and progress. Instructional activities should be engaging and
challenging, and they should provide students with opportunities to practice
and apply their learning. Reflection should be an ongoing process, and it
should be used to improve instruction and ensure that all students are learning.

As a future teacher, In what ways could the instructional planning cycle help
you in planning instruction?
E. Valuing: Finding Group Activity!
Practical
Applications of Instruction: I will divide the whole class into four Groups. In your group,
Concepts and Skills make a presentation about how instructional planning cycle plays a big role in
in Daily Living making an instructional plan. After doing the task each group will have to
present their work in front. Time duration of making a presentation is 5
minutes.

Rubrics:

F. Generalization Learning objectives, assessment strategies, and instructional activities are all
essential components of the instructional planning cycle. Learning objectives
specify what students are expected to know or be able to do by the end of a
lesson or unit. Assessment strategies are used to gather data on student
learning and progress towards the learning objectives. Instructional activities
are the tasks and experiences that students engage in to learn.

1. Why is it important to have an instructional planning cycle in making an

instructional plan?
