The following section introduces introduce how to printing environment.

1) Open the Ergosoft, the Control Center Utility will launch and also start the necessary
background processes.

2) On first launch, you’ll first be presented with the Print Environment Manager window. This
lets you define a Print Environment for your printer. Print Environments can be thought of
as a set of bundled settings and configurations for your printer. They contain the «driver»
to run the printer, the print settings such as resolution, passes, ICC profiles as well as the
port settings and more. Click Import to continue.

3) Choose all the print environments with different resolutions and click Open to import
82 / 127
them.

4) Select or Create a PrintQueue for your Environments.

5) Set up Printer Port. Select the Port type and configure it to connect to your printer. Set
the Spool Folder where the RIP will store temporary raster data for Jobs sent to this
printer. This should be on a disk that has sufficient space available as raster data can
quickly get huge.

83 / 127
6) Click Add port… as above, choose Local Port and To File and click OK as below.

7) Choose To File and enter the folder for the output files. Click OK to add the Data Output
port, here we enter Desktop.

8) Click OK to continue the installation.

84 / 127
9) Set up the name of the PrintQueue.

10) Click OK to continue.

11) You will see the Print Environments you imported as below.

85 / 127
12) You could also select them in the dropdown list in the JobComposer.

7) Pull the media under the third heater and exhaust unit until it reaches the air shaft of the
taking up. It is better that another person hold the media at backside. When the media is
straight at both sides, stick the media onto the media core on the bottom air shaft with

10) Rotate the knob of the vacuum and temp. adjust panel until the cursor moves to the
heater you want to set, here we choose the post heater. Press the knob to select it, you
will see the color of the temperature number is changed. Rotate the knob clockwise to
increase the number or anti-clockwise to reduce the number. After changing the
temperature, press the knob again to quit.

91 / 127
11) Turn on/off the heater: Within the home screen, rotate the knob until the cursor moves to
the option “Menu(菜单)” and press the knob to enter it.

12) Press the knob again to enter the option CH ON/OFF. Move the cursor to choose the
heater you want to turn on/off and press the knob to select it. Then rotate the knob to turn
on/off the heater and press the knob again to quit. Move the cursor to return to the
previous menu or the home screen.

13) Set platen vacuum:

Within home screen, rotate the knob until the cursor moves to the vacuum option. Press the
knob to select it, you will see the color of the number is changed. Rotate the knob clockwise
to increase the number or anti-clockwise to reduce the number we recommend around 50%,
too much vacuum will affect the stepping accuracy. After changing the vacuum, press the

7.2. Calibration procedure

1) Open PrinterManager, choose the media type you want to calibrate on. You can set
different step settings for different types of media, so you can choose the right media
type according to the media you load.

1) Click Main Menu-Tools-Calibration Wizard or click Calibrate button.

105 / 127
or

2) The following window will pop up. Click Next to continue.

3) Set Base Step at 24300 and click Vertical Check button.

106 / 127
4) The patterns below will be printed. Each print head has two parts of patterns, the top and
the bottom one should be aligned at 0 position. If not, you need to adjust the angle
screws until the patterns are perfect. Please use magnifier to check the pattern.

Print Head 1

Print Head 2

Print Head 3

Print Head 4

5) For example, the bottom part is more left and top part is more right. It means the print
head is placed clockwise. You need to use the agnle screw to rotate it anti-clock wise.

107 / 127
6) The following pattern is used to check the vertical gap between the heads. Operate the
vertical screw to move the print head backward or front.

7) Choose the mode as below and click Step Check.

108 / 127
8) The pattern below will be printed. The left row of lines should be aligned with the right row
of lines. If the left row of lines is higher than the right row, you need to input minus
number in the text box at the right side of the Step Check button and click => button to
apply your change; If the left row of lines is lower than the right row, you need to input
positive number in the text box and click => button to apply your change. The Base Step
will be changed after you apply the change. The smallest number you can input it 0.01 or
-0.01. Print the pattern again to double check it is good or not. Please don’t move the
media backward during the step calibration. After finishing the step calibration, click Next
to continue.

9) Within the window below, use Tab button of the keyboard or Next button to switch the
options. First, we calibrate Group-Left option.

109 / 127
10) Click Print button to print the calibration pattern below. It is used to adjust the horizontal
offset between the three heads. Find the number where the lines are aligned and add to
the corresponding text boxes. After then click Next or Tab to move to Right option and
calibrate it with the same method. After calibrate the Right option, click Next to start
Bidirection calibration

11) When the cursor moves to Bidirection, click Print button, the following pattern will be
printed. Find the number where the top, middle and bottom lines are aligned and add the
number to the text box. Redo the procedure to be sure the pattern is perfect. After
finishing the Bidrection calibration, click Next to move to Left color offset calibration.

110 / 127
12) Left color offset calibration means calibrating the color offset between the heads when
printing from Right to Left. Click print, the following patterns will be printed. Find the
number where the top, bottom black lines are aligned and add the number to the
corresponding text box. For example, in the Y1 part, the yellow color lines are aligned
with the black lines at number -3 and it is 4 in the 1(Y) now. You need to add -3 to 1(Y),
which means 4-3=1. Redo the procedure to be sure the patterns are perfect. After
finishing this calibration, click Next to move to Right color offset calibration.

111 / 127
13) Right color offset calibration means calibrating the color offset between the heads when
printing from Left to Right. The method is same as the Left color offset calibration.
14) After finishing the Right color offset calibration, click Next to move to Vertical/Overlap
calibration.

15) Click print, the following patterns will be printed. Find the number where the left group of
lines is aligned with right group of black lines and input the number into the
corresponding text boxes. Usually, if you calibrate the Vertical Check (print head angle)
very well, you don’t need to calibrate here.

16) After finishing the Vertical/Overlap calibration to go to Step calibration. This is similar as
the previous step calibration, calibrate the pass number for example 2,3,4 pass which
112 / 127
you want to print, click Save and click Next to go to All Page Check.

17) All Page Check

Set the width, pass number and lick Angle Check to print the pattern across the platen as
below. This is used to check if the gap between the print head mounting plate and platen has
not change from left to right.

9. Maintenance

9.1. Daily care

Keep the printer on and cover the carriage with black cloth after one day of working. This
could prevent the ink cured in the print head.

9.2. Once a weak

1) Clean the platen and the exterior covers by wet and clean cloth once a week to keep the
print heads, sensors, encoder strip from the dust.

2) Use non-dust paper/cloth with cleaning solvent to clean the cappings and wipers once a
week.

9.3. Once a month

1) Check the tube and wire connections.

2) Clean the linear guides with a soft, dry cloth. Please don’t use ethanol.

9.4. Maintenance when needed

1) Clean the ink residue that attached to the table with alcohol.
2) Clean the ink residue that attached around the nozzle surface by cleaning solvent.
3) Add lubricate oil to the lead screw and lithium base grease the bearing blocks in every
300hours of running.

119 / 127
4) Change the dampers every 6~8months

9.5. Print head maintenance

1) Change the capping and wipers every six months.

2) Change the dampers every six months.
3) If you uninstall the print head, please clean it with cleaning solvent, wrap it with non-dust
paper and then wrap it with food wrap. It is also for you to ship the print head.
