PHILIPPINE TOURISM
OBJECTIVES:

1. To have an overview about Philippine tourism.


2. Define Tourism, Geography and Culture.
3. Know the impact and role of tourism in the economy.
4. Identify different regions in each island.
5. To be able to know different cultures, cuisines, and some
major attractions in the Philippines.
PHILIPPINE TOURISM: AN OVERVIEW

The Philippines is a land rich in natural


resources, scenic locales, and friendly smiles. With over
7,641 number of Islands are present in the country and
some are still not yet discover. On top of its natural and
cultural heritage attractions are the friendliest , most
hardworking, and considered the most hospitable people
in the world. Filipinos are bilingual , making it easy for
foreign tourists communicate with locals of different
destinations. The Filipino is basically of Malay stock with
a sprinkling of Chinese, American, Spanish, and Arab
blood. The Philippines also has the Department of
Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to oversee
the protection of the environment in line with proposed
tourism development in various areas.

LANGUAGES
There are two official languages in the Philippines—Filipino and English. Filipino
which is based on Tagalog, is the national language. English is also widely used and is
the medium of instruction in higher education. There are also eight (8) major languages
spoken by majority of the Filipinos: Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano, Hiligaynon or Ilonggo,
Bicol, Waray, Kapampangan, and Pangasinense.

comfortable bed, clean toilets, and food services. Wi-fi is also necessity for tourist to
connect with their loved ones.
ACTIVITIES
The destination should also offer a variety of activities located to each other.
GEOGRAPHY- it is the study of places, relationships
between people and their environment.

CULTURE- it is something to do with the way of life


of the people with in the society or their ways of life or
living.
- these includes; their beliefs, institutions,
their norms, capabilities, their habits , their traditions
that’s where it is something to do with the traditions
that are past down from generation to generation.
TOURISM IN THE PHILIPPINES
Tourism plays an important role in the Philippine economy

• Eight (8) in Luzon
• Three (3) in the Visayas
• Six (6) in Mindanao

CULTURE

In general, PSYCHOLOGY is the individual’s
mentality which focuses on behavior on mental
processes to provide a comprehension and
understanding of human behavior.

Psychology attempts to understand the


motivation, personality, attitudes and environment of
an individual.
In tourism, PSYCHOLOGY is used to understand
the motivations driving people to become tourists.

Psychology also studies the needs relating to


tourism at a destination for an individual because
they are changing with their age, life circle and past
tourist experiences.

It is the duty of people involved in marketing
to convert that needs into wants by making the
