JeLove!

Slay! This is how Jelove Penaroyo gracefully walks towards the crown to win as
Mabini’s 2023 Kadasig Festival Queen.
18 years old Jelove Penaroyo is residing at Purok 2, Del Pilar, Mabini and is
currently studying at Mabini National High School as a grade 12 student in section
Flexibility taking up the course Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM).
Standing with a height of 5’6”, Jelove is eager to win the pageant with much
confidence with her.
According to her, she does not have enough confidence and courage to join but
because her family, friends, classmates and teachers who motivated and encouraged
her to join she finally decided to take the challenge.
She described the preparation as tough one. Her sleeping schedule was
changed, and she needed to build new lifestyle to manage her time well.
She believed that her greatest asset in winning the pageant is her beauty, skills,
wit and of course, her very suitable height.
Joining the pageant was like opening a new door of opportunities such as being
known in her town and her voice be heard by many, especially the youth.
One of her inspirations in the field of pageantry is the newly-crowned Miss
Philippines Eart 2023, Yllana Marie Aduana who inspired many people because of her
advocacies like the eco-friendlier and live zero waste.
Yllana’s wit, beauty, experience and confidence made the young Queen Jelove
join the pageant and inspired her that failing does not mean quitting.
Jelove’s advocacy strongly implements the Youth Empowerment about mental
health awareness. She thought that by using her voice she will uplift the people of
Mabini especially the youths.
Now that the coronation night is coing, Jelove is longing to go home with the
Crown.
Konnichiwa Japan: Sensei Marion’s Journey to the Land of the Rising Sun”

Sensei Marion Espina is a senior high school teacher at Mabini National High
School, at the same time, a Sensei in the Special Program in Foreign Language
(SPFL)- Nihonggo.
Mabini National High School is the only school to offer SPFL, particularly the
Japanese and Korean languages.
Two teachers of the SPFL-Nihonggo in Mindanao were chosen to participate in
the Immersion program to Japan, and luckily Sensei Marion was included.
He stated that he felt extremely happy and lucky to be chosen as part of the
Culture and Immersion Program in August 2022.
A 20-day Immersion program awaits Sensei Marion and could fulfill his high
school desire to step his feet to the ground of the Land of the Rising Sun.
According to him, since he was a high school student, he was very interested in
learning the Japanese language and their culture.
“I wanted to impart my knowledge to those students who are willing to learn and
know more about Japanese language and their culture,” he added.
He described Japan as a natural paradise.
“It has the most disciplined people and the cleanest places, and the expectations
are the reality,” he stated.
The journey to Japan was very good and the 20-day immersion was never
boring. From its food, activities, and cultural sessions, you can say that Japan is a place
like home.
“The culture of Japan can be part of yourself, which will help you teach students
to dig deeper into Japanese language and culture.”
Depth of Debts
Different people from different places that shares the same agony and one desire
— to survive from getting drowned from debt.
Debt. A problem that is very significant and has been affecting poor people
nowadays.
One of its primary factor is having low income, unemployment, and poverty.
In Rosario, Cavite Teddy Florendo a fishermen has been working all day long to
pay his Php 50, 000 debt.
He said that spend the money buying things his children needed while the
remaining is used to repair his house from the typhoon that hit their place.
In addition to this, many people admitted that it was like a nightmare thinking how
they would pay their pending debt.
Jovinal Alvarado a tricycle driver said that he does not like borrowing money but
as time passes he needed more to sustain the needs of his family.
According to Nova Alvarado, Jovinal’s wife she stated that her husband often
thinks to end his life.
Truly, even all these people has different stories and background, they share one
desire and that is to be save from the depths of their debts.
