Teaching Science in Elementary Grades (Biology and Chemistry)

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;

1. Define energy and its role in chemical bonds.

2. Explain the relationship between energy and bonds.
3. Recognize the importance of energy in forming bonds.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: The role of energy in explaining bonds

Materials: Cartolina, Permanent marker, White board, and White board

marker

III. Procedure:

a) Pre-development Activity

 Prayer

The teacher will ask one student to lead a prayer.

 Greetings

The teacher will greet the students

 Checking of Attendance

The teacher will check the attendance of the students in the

Classroom

 Recall

The Teacher will ask the students about the previous lesson.

 Motivation

The teacher will show a guessing game that will make the students engage in the lesson in which they are
tasked to answer.

b. Developmental Activity

 Lesson Proper

Bond Energy
-is the average of all bond-dissociation energies of a single type of
bond in a given molecule. The bond-dissociation energies of several different
bonds of the same type can vary even within a single molecule.

Bond Energy and Stability

The bond energy of a chemical bond is directly proportional to the stability of that bond.
This implies that the greater the bond energy of a given chemical bond between two
atoms, the greater the stability of that chemical bond.

Chemical bonds
-is an attraction between atoms. This attraction may be seen as the result of
different behaviors of the outermost or valence electrons of atoms. These behaviors merge into
each other seamlessly in various circumstances, so that there is no clear line to be drawn
between them.

c. Post - Developmental Activity

The Teacher will group the students into 4 groups. After the teacher
grouped the class, the Teacher will instruct the groups by their given activity.

 GENERALIZATION

The teacher then Ask the students few questions about the topic.

EVALUATION

The students will be given a paper with a given questions to answer.

Instruction: Put a check of the statement is true and f is the statement is false in the
given box.
