Good morning, today I will be going to discuss a timely and relevant issue nowadays.

We know that in our country,

we Filipinos are very fond of watching films it maybe local or international for it gives us entertainment and showing
us some reality scenes that we could relate of. Sometimes it also became a bonding time between couples, friends or
family. We sometimes don’t expect the scenes that we could watch in a certain film or movie. So that is why there
are age restrictions for audiences who are allowed to watch a specific movie or film. However, there are cartoon
films or movies that shows violence. Before we go through that topic, let me share to you about what is violence in
films? violence is often synonymous with "action." Because screenwriters, directors and producers use violence often and, in
many ways. Let’s have an example, like the popular cartoon film or movie “Tom and Jerry” we find it very funny when the two
characters arguing or fighting and tend to do some actions that could hurt each other and children tend to copy the actions
scene from the movie for they perceive that it is funny and just a normal thing to do.

In order to gain attention to the audience producers, scriptwriters, directors make the scenes more intense that could lead to
violence. Here are some examples of the Filipino movies that display violence.
 Insiang (1976) TV-14 | 95 min | Drama. ...
 Bad Boy (1990) 117 min | Action, Drama. ...
 Born Beautiful (2019) 96 min | Comedy. ...
 Cariño brutal (1998) 104 min | Action, Drama. ...
 Hukom .45 (1990) Action, Drama. ...
 Eskort (2000) ...
 Anak ni Baby Ama (1990) ...
 The Inmate (2007)
These movies are very popular in the Philippines. However, these movies contain violence scenes that people watch and it
remains in their head, vivid actions that could lead to copying in real life situations . As we strive to enhance our physical and
emotional well-being, both individually and as a society, the pervasiveness of media violence raises important questions for our
health: What increases the likelihood of seeing violent content? How does it affect us? Can anything be done to reduce its
negative impact? Some studies indicate that viewing aggression activates regions of the brain responsible for regulating emotions,
including aggression. Several studies, in fact, have linked viewing violence with an increased risk for aggression, anger, and failing
to understand the suffering of others. Viewers are less likely to help others, feel sympathetic toward victims, and express
empathy. Though viewing violent content does not necessarily lead to aggression, people who enjoy such programs can
experience activation in the same pleasure center of the brain stimulated by eating, having sex, and taking drugs. Seeing violent
scenes on television can trigger a kind of mental "camera flash" in which high levels of arousal join the release of hormones
associated with storing memories. The more intense the negative feelings stirred by violent media, the more vivid and available
those memories will be. Not only will we remember the details more easily, but we may think about what we saw more often and
even struggle to turn away from it.
But you can reduce the negative effects of media violence, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, you could use these steps.
Reduce exposure through mindfulness practice.
Consider the potential stress-related effects before watching a violent program.
Choose something exciting and positive to do, instead.
Explore your ethical and personal values.
Another bothersome topic aside from violence in watching films or movies is sex in film. What is sex in film? Sex in film is the
presentation in motion pictures of sexuality or eroticism and sex acts, including love scenes. Erotic sex scenes have been
presented in films since the silent era of cinematography. Many actors and actresses have exposed at least parts of their bodies
or dressed and behaved in ways considered sexually provocative by contemporary standards at some point in their careers.
Some films containing sex scenes have been criticized by religious groups or banned by governments, or both. Sex scenes have
been presented in many genres of film; while in some genre’s sexuality is rarely depicted.

We can’t deny that in our country by watching sex scenes in a film could lead to pornography which was a very disturbing
especially our youth nowadays, they spend a lot of time watching pornography. Some of our children adapt this kind of behavior
or mimics this because they see it to their parents or any adult inside the house enjoying watching such films. We are in a world
where even in just any platforms not just only in the movies or films our children could be exposed in this very alarming
situation. So as adult /parents or guardian what we could always do is to guide, limit and explain to our children the risk and
could be the bad outcome when they engage in this kind of behavior. We still have the voice and the authority to educate our
children.
