Content Standard
The learner values the functions/ purposes of oral communication.

Performance Standard
The learner writes a 250-word essay of his/her objective observation and evaluation of
the various speakers watched and listened to.

III. Procedure
A. Introduction
1. Review
Review of the past lesson on Intercultural Communication.

2. Initiatory Activity
The learners will be asked of the reasons why “do people communicate”.

3. Statement of Aim
By the end of the lesson, students are expected to;

effectively.

Activity 1. Discussion of Different Functions of Communication

Activity2. Video Clip Viewing with check up questions.

Activity 3. Role Play


Students will be given situations to role play specific function of
communication. They will be given time to practice and present it before
the class.

Activity 4. Individual Research work on different verbal and non-verbal


cues.

Activity 5: Talk Show Viewing.


The students will view a talk show

C. Integration
1. Firm-up
The class will be divided into 5 groups. They will present a 3 minute role
play showing sensitivity to socio-cultural dimensions of communication
situations focus on

b. gender
c. age
d. social status
e. religion

What is the importance of Intercultural Communication?

IV. Assessment
How can you show social responsibility to the following situation? Justify your
answer.

Cruz Family has been living under the bridge for more than two years. Because of
lack of opportunity to work as well as being under qualified to be hired for a
stable job, the parents raised their children through selling scraps.

V. Assignment
Watch any T.V. program. Take note the most interesting conversation and justify why
it is interesting to you.
