I. Prologue
Eight-year-old Camille Dufler meets a mysterious gold train in the woods. Despite the
happy atmosphere, her mother Adele is furious and rushes to their cabin. Forced to
weave magical golden threads, Camille witnesses her mother’s growing cruelty,
beginning with her father’s accident. Princess Brigid Delaforte appears, demonstrates
Camille’s magical powers, and offers a deal: she will pay for Camille’s magic in
exchange for the girl’s apprenticeship. Tempted to give up the hard life, Camille agrees
to the deal after receiving a special necklace from the Queen. As the car takes her
away, Camille thinks about her father and her new life in the castle.
XVII. Epilogue
Waking up in a dusty, flimsy room, Lucia puts her growing powers to good use by
devising plans to wreak havoc. She radiates a golden glow with a mischievous smile,
unwilling to destroy her surroundings. Meanwhile, while exploring the castle library at
night, Penny runs into Grayson. They talk about Libertas, memory loss, and emotions.
Grayson reveals his struggle with Penny’s indifference and asks her to try to remember
him. The tension rises, leading to brief interruptions of sudden thunder and lightning.
When Penny leaves the library, she manages to remember the name from the poetry
section, which is a small victory in her efforts to recover her lost memories
