Quick Guide of Atlantic Technological University Ireland
(ATU).
This publication will guide students, parents, and teachers through the wide
range of programmes available in Atlantic TU, one of the largest multi-campus
universities in Ireland.

We are very proud of our diverse range of programmes offered at our campuses
in Connemara, Donegal, Galway City, Mayo, Mountbellew, and Sligo. Between our
campuses, we offer 600 academic programmes from pre-degree to doctoral
level to a population of 23,500+ learners.

We offer a rich combination of academic and research excellence, quality of

life and opportunity – all of which can be experienced in the beautiful west and
north-west region of Ireland. We deliver practice-orientated study, and research

Campus Locations
As a multi-campus university, Atlantic TU offers students a diverse range of experiences, from bustling cities to wild
Atlantic coastal regions. With many courses to choose from, students can follow their passion, find their career path
and engage in a vibrant university community. With a continued emphasis on applied learning, small class sizes and
a supportive environment, ATU students can immerse themselves in student life and emerge graduate career ready.
ATU Galway City
Galway is home to ATU’s Galway City campus. Galway is much more
than a scenic city-by-the-sea. It has a diverse population of 75,000
people, with students making up at least a quarter. As the 4th
largest city in Ireland, Galway has everything from Michelin-starred
restaurants to open air markets, pubs, theatres, live music events,
and an eclectic bunch of personalities.
Established in 1972, ATU Galway City includes a number of buildings
on the east side of the city, overlooking Galway Bay, and a number of
sports facilities.
ATU Galway City’s building on the Old Dublin Road is one of Galway’s
iconic landmarks, due to the three distinctive sail-shaped copper
panels at the front of the main building. This unique design helps
identify the university as an innovator in modern technology and
serves the practical purpose of housing the Library and IT Centre.
This location offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses
ranging from business, science, computing, engineering, culinary
arts, hospitality, tourism and heritage.
ATU Galway City’s building on the Wellpark road is located even
closer to Galway City centre, and is home to the School of Design
and Creative Arts. This location is a hive of creative activity and is
home to several creative enterprises. It offers courses in design, art,
film and documentary, creative media and storytelling, animation and
game design, and teacher education in art, design and graphics.
ATU Mayo
With a population of over 12,000, Castlebar is the main town in
County Mayo, and is home to ATU’s Mayo campus. Situated only 28
miles from Ireland West Airport Knock, Castlebar has much to offer

residents, students and visitors.

It is located along a stunning coastline just over an hour from Galway
City. The campus is home to over 200 students, studying five
different degree courses in its state-of-the-art workshop facilities
with the most advanced machinery and computer technology.
The Connemara campus has links to major furniture design and
manufacturing companies around the globe, allowing students to
avail of work placement opportunities with leaders in furniture design

ATU Mountbellew
Established by the Franciscan Brothers in 1904, the Mountbellew
campus was the first agricultural college in Ireland. Mountbellew is

one of the most affordable regions to live, work and study in. The
cost of living is considerably lower than the national average and the
region offers a good variety of affordable student accommodation.
ATU Donegal’s reach is both local and international, attracting a
diverse student body of almost 5,000 students from Ireland and
32 countries across the globe. Our engagement and partnerships
with indigenous and international business leaders strengthens our
students’ employment prospects.
The Letterkenny campus is at heart of the university town.
It includes over 18,000 square meters of educational and support
accommodation with specialised teaching and research facilities.
It also houses our library, dining areas, meeting rooms and state-of-
the-art sporting facilities. With a diverse range of transport links, the
Letterkenny campus is easily accessible for national and international
students and visitors. It offers a wide range of courses in engineering
and technology, science and health and business at undergraduate
and postgraduate level.

ATU Donegal Killybegs
The Killybegs Campus is set in some of the
most unspoiled countryside and coastal
areas of Donegal. With a stunning coastline
and Blue Flag beaches on your doorstep
no wonder it’s home to the Department of
Tourism and Sport. The campus offers 2
undergraduate courses and a wide variety
of part-time, flexible, online and postgraduate
courses. The campus is renowned for its
reputation in delivering academic excellence
across the culinary arts, hospitality and
tourism disciplines. With a diverse range
of transport links, the Killybegs campus is
easily accessible for national and international
students and visitors.
ATU Sligo
Sligo combines a vibrant urban centre with stunning natural beauty.
The perfect setting for an unforgettable student experience.
One of the major plus points to life in Sligo is the sense of community
our students feel while benefiting from the support of a team of
dedicated staff. With a diverse and plentiful range of accommodation
options available, the cost of living in Sligo is one of the most
reasonable in Ireland. Over 10,000 students study here within our
two campus locations as full-time, part-time or online students.
The Sligo campus combines modern buildings, state-of-the-art
facilities and landscaped grounds. The campus provides bright and
contemporary spaces to ensure students get the best experience
possible. Whether it is the engineering and science labs, Apple
Mac computer lab or the new creative hub for arts, design and
architecture; our students have access to some of the best facilities
to ensure they have the highly sought-after skills to succeed in
their career.
The 72 acre campus is just a ten-minute walk from the town centre,
whilst our location along the Wild Atlantic Way means beaches,
mountains and countryside are all just a short trip away. The campus
offers undergraduate, postgraduate and online courses in business,
social sciences, engineering and design and science.

Our St. Angelas campus is perhaps the
most scenic in the country and just minutes
away from Sligo town centre. Students
experience small class sizes and a personal
approach to learning in a comfortable and
welcoming setting. St. Angelas students
enjoy a healthy balance of theory and
practice across all undergraduate courses so
students can enhance their skills ahead
of real-world placements.
