Climate Change is Physics (1960 )

Climmate System Modeling (2014-now)

02
Background
BACKGROUND
Since 1960
Since the beginning of the development of climate system
models in 1960, innovation has continued to develop to
improve the accuracy and precision of predictions. At first,
the models were simple, using basic principles of physics to
predict climate patterns. Syukuro "Suki" Manabe's role in
the development of the first climate models provided
fundamental insight into the physics of connected climate
systems across multiple timescales, from the ice ages to the
response to human-caused increases in greenhouse gases
since the Industrial RevolutionRevolution (Hegerl,G, 2022).
BACKGROUND
Now
In recent decades, there has been significant progress in climate
system model innovation. The use of supercomputers and
advanced simulation techniques has made it possible to create
more detailed and highly precise models. One recent innovation is
the development of more precise regional climate models, such as
those undertaken by NSW and Australian Regional Climate
Modeling (NARCliM), enabling better modeling of the effects of
climate change at a local or regional level. These innovations
help in understanding and responding to the challenges of climate
change, from short-term weather predictions to long-term
climate projectionsprojections (NSW web, 2024).
